VA Jrs 15 got a Liberty bid by finishing 3rd at 15 Liberty. Paramount got some Open bids at Big South? |
Kudos to the VA Juniors 15...!!!! |

I am not in favor of clubs that emphasize being double or triple qualified. It seems more about boasting. I understand that it serves as a form of advertising for the club, but I still find it unappealing.
Going to get my 3rd cup of coffee now. |
Paramount 17s got an Open bid with a 3rd place finish. I think Paramount 16s just missed an open bid - the Big South results in SportWrench show them as coming in 6th and show 2 teams that finished higher already having open bids. The Big South web page showed 3 bids available in 17 Open https://www.bigsouth.us/qualifier-information. If that’s correct, then bids would have rolled down to 5th place. But if Big South had one of the extra USAV provisional bids or their previously earned bids were not up to date, then Paramount 16s would have an open bid. Anyone know for sure? |
They had to play an extra game to determine the 5th and 6th places. That tells me only the 5th-place team got the bid. |
Let the clubs boast about their accomplishments! Our club brags every time a team makes it into a gold bracket. I am sure many people roll their eyes at these announcements, but each club brags with what they can. Those who can brag about getting multiple bids are even more entitled to brag. But you can do your eyeroll if that goes well with your morning coffee. |
I don't understand why they give medals to those winning the bronze bracket... |
We never got medals for winning a bronze bracket. It does feel ridiculous though, but we live in a world where everyone gets a participation trophy. |
Just saw this in my feed: a team (no offense) won the bronze bracket (and placed 13th overall): https://www.instagram.com/p/DWxbM-0EVU8/?img_index=1 |
My DD was hoping that they would lose a challenge that would decide whether they go in the Gold or the Silver bracket. Losing that challenge meant that they would have a better chance to play multiple games and eventually win the Silver bracket. But they won the challenge, went into the Gold bracket, where they were eliminated after their first game. In an alternate universe, they lost the challenge, won the Silver bracket and got back home with medals. What a dumb system! |

Here is something I don't understand:
https://results.advancedeventsystems.com/event/PTAwMDAwNDE0OTM90/divisions/197303/standings The Platform and MOCO teams had similar results: they won their first day pool, ended up second in their second day pool, won their challenge to go into the gold bracket, where they lost. With those results, you would think that their standings would be similar. But Platform ended up on the 9th place (along with other teams) and MOCO ended up on the 16th place all by itself. So - taking into account that similar trajectory through the tournament - why isn't MOCO among the teams on the 9th place ? |
A mistake? MOCO is in gold, so it should be 9th. |
BVC 13-1 got a Liberty bid but declined the bid https://results.advancedeventsystems.com/event/PTAwMDAwNDE0OTM90/divisions/197316/standings |
I agree this just seems like a mistake. With 16 teams in gold and no additional matches to further refine the finish order, all the teams that lost the first match in the gold bracket should be tied for 9th. All the other teams that lost that first match are listed as 9th. If your DD is on the MOCO team, perhaps politely suggest to the coach/club director that they contact NEQ and look into getting it fixed. Having a better finishing place could impact AES/USAV ranking and seeding at future tournaments. |

The Chesapeake region was well represented in the 16 Club Division (two CH teams at the top):
