If you went somewhere for holiday break, how much did it cost?

Would love to hear more about this trip, age of kids and what you did there/where you stayed.

I really spent a lot of money and I'm somewhat surprised now having totaled it all for this post ($34,000) but I budgeted and saved for it for a long time using YNAB and it was a milestone birthday family trip.

Finland / Lapland / Arctic Circle - 5 people. Flights from IAD to Finland were $1,200 each. I used a travel agent. 10 nights, 11 days.

I'm a little embarrassed at the cost right now but no regrets. My kids are in 11th, 8th, and 5th grades and I know we won't have so many opportunities necessarily to travel with all 5 of us so easily in the future. Travel over winter break is so expensive but I am doing it for now since it's when the kids don't have school. I don't wish I took this trip after my kids were out of the house and my husband and I were that much older.

$2800/flights for four
$2200/2 bed 2 bath condo across the street from beach access point
Used points for rental car

We didn't do that many activities, we mini golfed one day and did a sunset/dolphin cruise but mostly just hung out at the pool/beach, shelled, "hiked" at the nature preserves, rode bikes around the island. We would've spent money on activities (and eating out!) if we'd have stayed at home so I don't count that!

How is Sanibel doing these days? I haven't been back since the hurricane.
