If you went somewhere for holiday break, how much did it cost?

What were you eating and doing for less than $150/day?

We went out West for a week, about $600 per person (4 of us) for a 5hr direct flight. Airbnb and rental car were the other big expenses but daily incidentals were on the lower side (hiking, casual meals). We booked about 3 months before going. Prices for our specifics and dates were much higher for the Caribbean (or Europe) - I would book earlier for that.

We went to Miami for 4 nights/5 days post Christmas. Family of 4. Hotel was $2800 for a double room, Marriott resort . Rental car was $500. Flights were $2k. 1k on food/entertainment/activities.

Weather was nice, but resort was so busy service really suffered and will make us think next time.

That’s all in including 2 destination in Mexico so 4 flights - all direct. Maybe in lower season it would be 4-5k but my kid is in school then. Worth it to me.

West coast to Boston (family), plane tickets were $4000 for a family of four. We used Alaska companion fare to get it to half price ($2k), then had to change the ticket which added $1k total. Other than that, had to rent a car for a couple days ($200), went on an overnight excursion while there, which was about another $1000. Also bought incidental groceries/meals while visiting family. So, a little north of $6k?

$28,000

5 people, Big Island for 6 nts with 2 hotel rooms, rental car, flts from CA, 2 days of diving, guided hike, resort meals including nicer xmas eve and xmas dinners and a massage. It was lovely and our only family vacation this year due to surgeries so we did felt comfortable splurging

Skiing out west. $35k for a week for 6 people. Lodging being the most expensive cost. Flights, rental cars, meals, ski school etc add up. It is definitely cheaper to go other times but we’ve been doing this for years, and love the tradition. It does stink a little when you have years like this one without great snow, but we still had some snow while we were there, and a good time.

Florida hotel room, we usually get a suite but they didn’t have and I couldn’t stomach $9000 for 5 nights dor two rooms so:
$4500 hotel
$1000 car rental
$2400 flights
Food was probably another $2000
