Turns out, people have very strong reactions to Disney cruises

I am not a Disney person (in fact, I am actively avoiding taking my children to Disney World), but I have actually heard that Disney cruises are the absolute best of the large cruise lines, even for adults.

Disney is great, but Royal Caribbean’s newer ships are amazing, fun and endless entertainment.

I'd encourage you to be less judgmental in your head, too.

I’d encourage you to zip it.

No, my head is my own realm where I can think whatever I want. Try it!

Being judgmental of inconsequential choices other people make, including privately, is miserable.

Nice opinion you’ve got there. Just be sure you don’t mistake it for fact.

Disney cruises are a lot of fun. Very relaxing.

You and your family will have a blast.

Ignore the haters. I am similarly baffled as to why some people feel free to openly criticize others, but they seem to think it’s totally fine to hate on cruises.

The same way they pretend to prefer their beater car over a newer one with all the bells and whistles. Or they live in a less desirable neighborhood in a fixer upper next to the tollway because they prefer diversity. Ignore.

Oh dear. Honey no. “They’re just jealous” is the actual cope. They are going on far more expensive and better vacations than a Disney cruise. Promise.

That said, if you told me you were going on a Disney cruise, I’d say “oh, have so much fun!” and change the subject.

You're not doing a great job refuting the point.

I can’t believe anyone would say anything to your face.

I'd never go on a cruise because based on some other experiences I'm pretty sure I'd be.prone to sea sickness. But that's 100% a me thing.

The bottom line is we need a proper vacation (not a “trip”) and we need childcare because we don’t have family to come with us or watch our kids while DH and I go away). Disney is the nicest, best food, etc. We aren’t a Disney family at all, honestly. I’m not even sure my boys will know the characters.

ANYWAY…people have strong reactions to us saying that’s what we’re doing. (it was the kids Christmas present or else honestly, we wouldn’t tell people. But the kids are excited so they tell everyone.)
“I would NEVER.”
“Sounds like hell on earth”.
“Why not spend the money and take the kids to Europe?”
And on and on.

Why are people like this?!

So rude. I travel a lot and have lived abroad and would LOVE to go on a Disney Cruise. It's a bucket list for me and my family.

I don't get this. It's really not a nightmare. Pay for all the extras and go at an off-peak time, and it's a really pleasant experience that the vast majority of kids enjoy greatly.

Lol, pay extra, jump through hops, and go at an inconvenient time... literally the stuff of nightmares

Idk PP, we spent $60K on a safari and did a Disney cruise 2 months later. Chartering a staffed catamaran in Croatia in 5 months for $75K and will head to Disney (FL) a few months after that.

Didn’t realize it was an either / or situation - we just take the vacations we want without thinking about what status it signals?

Some people really object to the whole Disney model. It's pretty consumer heavy and elitist.

This is the point here: you say you think it would be anighmare, which means you've never been. That's the same reaction OP is getting from people who hear about her trip. So far, not a single person who has actually been on one, even those who went reluctantly, have had anything bad to say.

Exactly. The people saying “oh, I would never!” are those who have never been on one!

The elitists who hate Disney don't hate Disney because it's elitist.
