It is simply wrong and unkind when parents and supposedly adults out children on an anonymous blog. I have seen this happen over and over again—giving out too much specific information about the accepted student, questioning their acceptance, and diminishing their moment.
The universities have been admitting students for decades; they understand their priorities. Life isn't fair. Someone is born into a wealthy family. Someone else is not. Everyone is trying to give their children whatever advantage they can by using whatever resources they have. And so on.
Irrespective, these are kids, and it is unacceptable to discuss their candidacy in a way that identifies them. Please don't do it.

Know that this is a hook it itself (applying from underrepresented school to area). If you are an outstanding student from an underrepresented area that is lucky and an easier admit as they try to balance geography and demographics. I say this not in a disparaging way but as a way of telling DMV kids’ families is not an apt comparison or relevant in any way.

Much easier to get into any Ivy from a TN private than from DC or the northeast.

30 years ago I went to Princeton from a TN private. Would never have gotten in if I was coming from where I live now.

The thing to remember about Dartmouth is that they are tiny. Freshman class is about 1200 and they tend to be evenly splint between men and women. So, 600 spots per. And with athletes, legacy, VIP, FGLI, preferred boarding and NYC private students, there really aren't a lot of spots for an accomplished student that doesn't fit in their boxes.

Never ED to Dartmouth unless seriously hooked. It really isn't a school looking for the best and brightest. Kill that dream early. Dartmouth is not happening for bright and accomplished students from 98 percent of American high schools. They are very old school.

Dartmouth really should be considered as a regional liberal arts college. But it's an old school, and they've been coasting off the Ivy brand for a long time and get the national attention. But your rando public or middling private school student is very, very unlikely to get a look at Dartmouth. Do a reality check before applying ED.

You must not live in DC. When your kids go to DC private schools their classmates often have parents that are national news anchors, Supreme Court Justices, Speaker of the House, Vice President, Senators, etc. It is not in good form to out these kids on the internet. Obviously they are hooked for admissions, but they are also kids that are high achieving and hard working. Can we please leave these kids alone?
