| One of the NCS girls is, as the previous poster said, daughter of a VIP and very hooked. Visited Dartmouth this fall and stayed with another VIP’s kid from another DC prep school. The other is an athlete. |
| VIP meaning national name recognition? Political or entertainment/athlete type? |
VIP as in the parent made it up and can’t cope that their kid didn’t get in. |
| VIP as in very very wealthy |
| DD got flat rejected. I expected a deferral, frankly. 4.0 UW all advanced/AP classes at NJ public. 1550 and 35 (one and done on both), all 5s on APs. Strong but not exceptional XCs and essays. Oh well. Their loss. |
VIP as in household name. |
I think I know who this is - someone in politics/entertainment who Dartmouth would absolutely want to speak on campus. I normally think people overestimate who a VIP parent is, but in this case, I think it counts. |
| I know a recruited athlete (female student) who got in from DD's school today. Science/cross-country. |
Your jealousy is unhealthy. Stop talking about teenagers especially when you have no idea about their academic qualifications. |
| deferred. 3.95 from NYC private. 1580 SAT. ranked debater. other strong EC in niche area |
| We’re talking about the child of a very famous journalist. A household name. Who went to a top private school. They might have good grades, but having a very famous parent definitely helped. Isn’t this fair to say? It’s a hook, the same way athletic recruitment can be a hook, or money, or legacy. |
| Unhooked high stats kid from our Baltimore private. |
Lie |
We get it that you can’t get in and need to dig up lies. |
| DC just told about an MCPS admit. Apparently super smart and did everything in school. |
