Bets on late start Monday

No change is a decision. Schools will open on time tomorrow. Honestly? We got a slight dusting of snow. The kids will be fine.

So the decision should still communicated. Surrounding counties are delayed because of weather and icy roads. If on time, fine. But tell us.

It’s icy which is worse than the dusting of snow that caused a delay earlier this month.

You all want them to text/email every time someone speculates that there could be a delay or closing? I do not. No news means no change - that's clear to me.
Anonymous
Last time they made the call at 730 so we will see. There really should be a message either way based on surrounding counties decisions.

I think that the call will probably occur around 8pm, no matter if it is a delay or closure or no change.

Which is silly because nothing will impact decision in the next half hour. Just update already.

I’m usually the first to criticize FCPS for closing for small amounts of snow, but the super-cold temps have left large swathes of ice on neighborhood streets. I don’t see how kids or busses will be able to navigate them safely. I think a two-hour delay would be reasonable.

- outside the beltway. Woodson HS pyramid

Same pyramid and agreed. Our neighborhood is rough.

I drove around Woodson this evening.

Roads are fine over there.

This is not accurate

I'm betting that you didn't drive near my house, which is about 15 minutes away in the pyramid, because all we have is ice.

Hard to argue delay isn’t the safest choice. Can’t see black ice before the sun comes up

Black ice is not thick and does not get thicker.

What you are seeing is just regular ice, not black ice.

Black ice is very thin. It looks like wet spots on the pavement.
