No middle or high schooler is going to bed before 9 pm.

My middle schooler goes to sleep at 8:00pm. I recognize this is unusual, but my kid needs a lot of sleep!

I have a 15 year old who goes to sleep at 9pm. She has an auto-immune disorder. I wish she were a typical teenage night owl without any sort of disease.

My teen also goes to bed around 9:15/9:30. We don’t allow him to stay up later. He’s also 15. He doesn’t have an auto immune disorder and needs a lot of sleep.

I think FCPS has around 14 snow days built into the calendar

They are not real snow days, they are minutes that add up to the “equivalent” of 14 days. That means that they are counting lunch and time in the hallways and the like to get to the number of hours they need instead of the number of days. They are scheduled for the exact number of days that they need but rely on hours if they have to cancel school because of weather.

Weather shows snow all day…

I’m in the western part of the county and the weather app says snow but it’s just rain right now. 33 degrees. If it were just a little bit colder! Bummed.

Ours is saying snow with rain, snowy right now, snow/rainy all day, and pure snow at 12 . North/west area

It’s cold and it’s raining, that’s it. I’m in the western part of the county. There’s no ice on the ground.

This isn’t like in January when it was so cold for so many days that any precipitation turned to ice and stayed there.

We’ll get our delays and snow days soon enough. Today just isn’t one of them.

So many snow days, but we have to go into late June. Maybe we need less snow days.

I’ve never heard 14 days. I believe it’s 10 days, and it’s fewer for elementary schools because of 3 hour early release. It’s all a loophole anyway. There aren’t 10-14 extra days baked into the calendar. Using snow days means that things like walking from the bus to the classroom count as instructional time.

I live about as far west as you can get and it's just raining.

There aren’t extra days, only extra hours.
