2 Hour Delays Tomorrow?

CWG: WINTRY mix update: Temperatures are running a degree or two colder than expected this evening, which may allow for the wintry mix to extend a little farther south and east than previously forecast as it arrives between 5 and 7 a.m. Tuesday

2-hour delay doesn't mean they will be in school in late June.

Agreed. They need at least 4 days or a week of missed school because of snow for extended school year.

They dont go to school any later when we have snow days since FCPS started counting all kinds of non instructional time as instructional.

They’d have to cancel or delay a lot of days to have to extend the SY.

Nothing for PWC, APS, or ACPS yet that I can tell. Montgomery Co. (MD) has a very similar message about monitoring the weather.

No middle or high schooler is going to bed before 9 pm.

My middle schooler goes to sleep at 8:00pm. I recognize this is unusual, but my kid needs a lot of sleep!

APS and ACPS are getting nothing but rain.

It is absurd this is even a debate for Fairfax. Lamest school district ever.

I don’t want to get up at 6 am to get my kid off to middle school only to find out there is a delay. Ughhhhh. Wish we knew tonite.

So true! I don't want to set an unnecessary alarm but I also don't want to stay up until 11 constantly checking my emails for an update. So annoying

I have a long memory. It has happened.

Wish they would consider us middle school employees that have to wake up at 4-5am. I would have been in bed an hour ago but got thrown off with the fake-out delay.

You don't remember waking up to find out if they were going to have school? This goes on in most areas. Seldom was the decision made the night before.

It was not called until the morning in FCPS, too. Even as recently as ten years ago. I’m not sure why people expect a call the evening before especially when it’s a mix of precipitation. I do think it’s ridiculous that they post a delay and then took it back without acknowledging the error!

Yeah, my memory goes back through the 33 years I’ve been with FCPS, but I don’t recall extending the school year since we started building in and counting the extra hours. It was back when we had something like 3 extra days beyond the 180 and would use more than those 3.

I have a 15 year old who goes to sleep at 9pm. She has an auto-immune disorder. I wish she were a typical teenage night owl without any sort of disease.
