100% for the right call.

That is embarrassing. I can't imagine complaining about having to go to work and do my job on a public platform with my employer listed in my FB profile. Just a bad look. Keep that in your text messages. If teachers want to be treated as professionals they need to tell some of their colleagues to act like it.

You should see some of the comments on the instagram post, obviously from students and oh so embarrassing. I remain so grateful we didn't have that crap when I was an embarrassing teenager (and so sad that my kids will).

Why don’t you go look at the post yourself? There’s really not a lot of people complaining.

There are two issues:

1. Whether the weather justified a 2 hour delay
2. Whether - given that they mistakenly made the call already - they had any business retracting it.

I've got no opinion on the 1st, but the 2nd was an embarrassing and unprofessional showing by FCPS.

It was fine, you can stop now.

It actually wasn't, but whatever.

There’s more than one, PP is right, it’s embarrassing. This is what happens when people believe they will not face consequences for unprofessional behavior.

What consequences? Some could have been parents, and those who are teachers won't be fired.

Temps are going below freezing tonight and the roads are wet, probably a good idea to delay a couple hours in the morning to allow time to thaw out.

That’s what I mean— there’s no consequences for behaving like this and they know it. Meanwhile they’re teaching kids who will soon learn that most jobs fire you if you go on social media to complain about…needing to go to work on a Tuesday.
