Herndon High

Two types of people on this thread:

1) parents who say that students are safe around homicidal gang members and activity in their schools because typically their kid isn’t targeted.

2) sane parents who aren’t interested in sending their kids to schools that have students threatening death to other students and following through with those death threats by killing them.

Count me in camp 2, And I am shocked that camp 1 parents even exist, tbh.

Sad for you if you think Herndon is what all the houses look like in FCPS.

This didn’t happen at school though. The kid was not at school when he was shot. It did not occur even during school hours. Do we have any evidence that this was a fellow classmate and that these things were occurring during school? No. He probably WAS receiving death threats but not necessarily by a fellow Herndon high classmate, while at Herndon high, and the violence ultimately did not occur at Herndon high. It’s a real stretch to say someone killed at a basketball court at 930 pm by a known opp means the entire student body is going to school with an insane murderer who might get them at any point too.

I would not be surprised to find that there are kids who are threatened by their classmates at the MC, UMC, and rich HS in the county. I have been reading these boards for the last 9 years and this is the first time I have heard of a student at Herndon reaching out to the school about a death threat from classmates. And while there have been students murdered during this time, it is a rare event, even at schools with high FARMs rates or a large immigration population.

People on this board post like Herndon, and similar schools, are infested with gang members, throwing gang signs, intimidating everyone, and threatening to kill all those who oppose them. The families I know at those schools, with students and as Teachers, will roll their eyes at this and tell you that their kids don't see this activity and don't feel threatened.

People like to take the rare event and then project that in some grand way. Herndon has its issues, most of which cannot be addresses by the administration or teachers because the issues come from the home environment, but they are not even close to what you saw in the movie Dangerous Minds, which I swear is what families think is happening.

The father when interviewed said that the murdered kid was a Herndon High student and that he had received death threats from classmates. That’s pretty compelling evidence to me that the death threats were from Herndon High students. Maybe you have some “alternative facts”?

Your attempts to minimize a homicide involving Herndon High students as victim and likely as killer is really something else. And we all know you don’t actually think kids are safe in that environment.

This should be a five-alarm fire for FCPS, instead they send misleading emails to families to make it seem like a suicide, while the killer was apparently free for days after the murder, possibly still going to school.

They MUST fix the gang problem at the school before more lives are lost.

We need a Venn Diagram to show the overlap between the right-wing Republicans exploiting this killing to promote their pro-ICE, anti-Hispanic nativist agenda and the Great Falls folks capitalizing on it to push their agenda that under no circumstances should their kids living a few miles from Herndon not be bussed substantially longer distances to Langley.

The overlap would likely be significant.

What does that have to do with the Herndon High student that was murdered after receiving death threats from his HHS classmates?

Sure, Democrat, anti-ICE operations, not anti-Hispanic, and I believe there is a real problem when Herndon High School students are murdered by classmates, regardless of skin color.

Does that make me a radical?

Regardless of your equity agenda, you should feel some compassion for a murdered teen, rather than dismiss it because the murder didn’t occur at the school and it doesn’t fit your narrative.

It tells us which categories you fall into.

Democrat when you want to be, pro-Hispanic when you want to be, prone to exaggeration ("student" becomes "students") and speculation ("murdered by classmates"), and more than willing to exploit a tragedy to protect your own school assignment.

Nope, the Democrats in Great Falls also want our kids to stay at Langley, that’s the reason we moved here.

Just saw an article that said the shooter was charged with shooting from a vehicle, so it sounds like the Herndon High student was killed in a drive by near Hutchison Elementary.

In all fairness, it has been known MS13, which is primarily a gang with Hispanic members, operates in Herndon for many years now.
