Wow, worth watching this NBC interview. Sounds like the Herndon High student who was shot dead last week was getting death threats from his classmates and the family called FCPS about it, but they never followed up with the family.

This is horrific if true. Did FCPS or FCPD drop the ball here with no followup, or both? What a devastating end to this young teen’s life.

Even if a formal investigation should have been followed up on by FCPD, FCPS certainly dropped the ball by not following up to support him in school. They should have spoken with him to see if changing his schedule would help and make sure he had access to a guidance counselor.

How sad.

Do we know they did not? As a parent would you have turned it over to the school and dropped it?

That’s what the father of the kid that was killed said in the interview.

If your child was threatened, would you expect the school to fix it? He could have gone directly to the police.

It says he asked for the school police officer to call him back.

What a tragic waste of a life.

The school administrators and principals are weak. This is horrible and not the least bit shocking. The principal at South Lakes is just as useless so not surprised this accusation is there against Herndon.

Seems to me that the dad likely knows who did it. Did he tell the school who the threats came from? Seems to me that the first step would be to go directly to the police.

This is a terrible tragedy and my heart breaks for the family

For all the Monday morning quarterbacks saying the family should have gone to the police or done something else, it’s easy to say that now .Heck, if it was my kid, I probably would have switched to homeschooling, but I’m not sure the father knew where to turn. I’m sure the father did what he thought was best at the time.

It is curious how this wasnt picked up earlier by English papers.

Point being: it is not the school's fault.
