A security guard is not something taxpayers should be paying for.

That’s funny because I still see her driving the same Subaru I first saw her in when she had Washington state tags on when she first started.

What’s your source for FCPS providing her a car?

Why on earth would you know what kind of car she drives? That’s so creepy.

A Subaru is a pretty easy car to identify. If you see her getting out of one from the driver’s side at a school event, you can assume it’s her car. What’s creepy about knowing that?

It’s creepy that you’re posting anonymously the type of cat she drives on a forum about her being given security while at the same time pearl clutching over her security.

Get a grip and mind your own business.

You mean all the people on here who sit at home or at their jobs and anonymous post and then do nothing else?

Nothing? Parents do nothing?? Could you be any more condescending, PP?

Is that you, Terry McAuliffe?

This county is an absolute mess and it's the kids who are losing out.

Top schools in the nation. Shall we compare fairfax schools to a republican county in West Virginia? Won’t even be close.

Funny how you skipped right over DCPS, Richmond public schools, Baltimore public schools, etc.

So you admit that FCPS is better than Republican country counties and Democratic urban counties?

This is not the “own” you think it is.

Top schools in the nation.

Calm down Karen.

- apparently, us taxpayers should keep quiet about what FCPS wastes money on too.

You do realize you just got upset that someone defended DCUMers by saying they only post words and don’t physically attack Gatehouse employees? They replied to someone who said FCPS needs body guards because of people on here. Do you really also believe people here will attack or did you just misunderstand?

Anyone think she is gearing up in advance of her response to the Title 9 violation charges?

From article “ Meanwhile, the third-largest school district in the country, Chicago Public Schools, is about double the size as Fairfax County Public Schools, serving 322,809 students in 643 schools, according to the latest data, and its superintendent, also called its chief executive officer, doesn’t have a personal bodyguard.

School district spokeswoman Mary Ann Ferguson said, "Chicago Public Schools does not employ a personal bodyguard position for our superintendent/CEO."

This $ could pay for 2 starting teachers or even more teacher aides

This seems delusional.

From the job posting:

Requires exceptional flexibility; schedule will be unpredictable and driven by the superintendent's daily activities and security needs.

Must be available for irregular hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, travel, and extended on-call duty.

Travel? Travel?

It’s basically to have someone with her on all of her school visits, etc.

Wonder if it comes with a vehicle? Glorified chauffeur?

She’s already driven everywhere.

THIS IS A LIE. I’m a principal and my colleagues and I have all had her at our schools. No one drives Michelle Reid anywhere (except maybe her husband who accompanied her to a Saturday event at our school last fall). We have regular meetings with her and see her in the parking garage getting out of her car alone.

I don’t agree with everything she does, and you don’t have to either. But you don’t get to post straight-up lies.

As for a security person, I have no problem with it. The new head of security is a former Secret Service member. My guess is that this coming from him based on credible threats and/or incidents. I’ve done more “no trespass” letters in the last several years than in ten previous years combined. People are unhinged.

Makes more sense now. Easy gig to supplement Federal pension. Will see the team expand to cover school board members as well. So another $1.5M when you include benefits a year dedicated to non-classroom activities.

1. She never listens to public opinion. Or thinks she is more moral and righteous than anyone else. She may attend “listening sessions” but if you compare her pre and post meeting plans it always seems that her mind was made up ages ago. Her public meetings are just a formality so she can claim she “listened”. Additionally, when she solicits public opinion via polling and survey they never are binding or heckled even impactful, no matter how decisive a majority. When a landslide 2/3rds didn’t want a renaming of WTW Woodson that would cost a cool million to undertake, she overruled them stating she had the moral high ground? Why even run a large scale survey and take thousands of peoples time if your morality is going to trump the poll results? Arrogance.

2. She never acknowledges the concerns of her opponents and uses sham investigations. Usual company and decision making letters all have some paragraph stating “while some opponents of such plan have argued, point XYZ, and having taken into account point XYZ and how it effects the merit of such plan” , she NEVER EVER does so. All her written explanations just include her vantage point and no one else’s. She never acknowledges differing views. So much for her “diversity focus”. She conducts residency checks by not asking for proof of mortgage or rental contract but via verbal confirmations as in the Hayfield case in which case everyone is free to lie without penalty to avoid scrutiny. She finds nothing wrong or suspect with that or multiple kids claiming homelessness to play football. Instead she has “full confidence”. Full confidence in the Region superintendent and her executive principals and the HR and vows to protect their jobs. Zero accountability. And if you even question the questionable conclusions of her questionable investigation tactics she declares your opinion void and “misinformed” or “uninformed”. She probably does far worse for non public controversies.

3. She is fiscally irresponsible and thinly veiled bigot. For the last 3 years so pretty much every year here, she has always argued for raises well above inflation for not just teachers but even her lucratively paid Leadership Team and her own salary that is more than the POTUS. It’s not fiscally responsible or mathematically sustainable in the slightest. FCPS funding per pupil is the highest in history of the county even when adjusted for inflation and that leaves heavier and heavier tax burdens and sags on commercial activity for taxpayers, all while mediocrity and lower and lower test score persist. And she always intentionally and deliberately misleads the public on teacher salaries by failing to showcase FCPS pension payouts that no other DMV public school system has in her teacher salary stats even when repeatedly ask to correctly do so by the board members, she does so obviously intentionally to obscure facts that weaken her arguments.

This is Just like in the Hayfield case where she intentionally left out evidence. And while you can’t necessarily prove this point many others have said as well it would seem that she is far too concerned about potentially making minority groups upset and has shown zero desire to punish minority educators. She sets fixed quotas on racial hiring and has endorsed racially exclusive based scholarships and organizations. And then calls those who have challenged allowing biological men into women sports and bathrooms “intolerant”. Only if she would show the same critical energy and standards to those who believe that biological differences in boys and girls lead to unfair situations for her mediocre and ever expanding “Leadership Team” who gobble up tax dollars and who don’t deliver anything.
