Do they typically have chaperones?

My daughter's did because I insisted upon it and she found a group where two of the Moms were willing to be on site. That gave me a lot of peace of mind, and the girls still had a lot of freedom. I have no idea why FCPS goes to Myrtle when there are plenty of closer beaches, but "that's where everyone was going."

Seriously. Kids don’t care about water temps like that.
Water temp today
Myrtle Beach -78 F
Ocean City - 67 F

Helped you with that.

Our travel agent is also here and the report she has been getting from management is that our kids have been polite and they love how they’re participating in activities and the dance parties at night.

We have 5 parents (more stay and help) signed up each night from 10 pm- 2 am to help ensure kids aren’t overserved, getting to their rooms safely, etc. from the main dance area/bar.

That’s a Lot of parents supervising. Is it a religious school?

I went to Myrtle for college beach weeks. I feel much better about high school graduates being in large houses with an adult on site than experiencing the Myrtle Beach scene!

I disagree. OBX/Corolla is a terrible choice. They are just waiting to evict for the smallest infractions. Time to find somewhere else.

Easy to avoid eviction

sure, if you don't allow anyone in your house, don't hang in groups at the beach, and so on. Sounds like fun!

OBX is so low class.

How do chaperones deal with alcohol during beach week?

We are chaperoning next week in OBX. Will you stop the kids from drinking alcohol?

Yes, but that’s not why a lot of parents went. We all went because we’re also friends. Many of our kids have been in school together since PK/K.

By their second glass of wine they are falling asleep.

Kids can go to beach in groups, but not drunk in the evenings. Kids can walk to beach or other houses, but not screaming and being rowdy while drunk. Kids can have friends over, but not hang out outside and be loud and drunk. Do you see the common thread?

Just say that it's SSSAS. It's Episcopal.

Every beach house has “adult” chaperones or else most renters won’t rent if they don’t. Most renters ask for at least one 25 year old or they won’t rent. I know that was the case with all of my kids friends.
