Nonfamily groups are disallowed by most leases, parents or not and can be evicted.

It definitely depends upon the house. We didn't book our first choice b/c it had that wording.

My senior went with 3 friends (to Ocean City), unchaperoned.

Mine is in Corolla - in an unchaperoned house with a group of friends - all 18yo....I guess one of the dads rented the house for them. Apparently, there was nothing in the contract stating ages of guests, etc - only a limit as to # of guest staying which is 8. Therefore, they are all in agreement that only the 8 of them can sleep in the house. They are not letting anyone else crash/spend the night. So far, they are having a blast! I hear there are cops everywhere, and they all feel very safe. If your kid is not out of control, they should be fine. They are taking turns being designated drivers.

I am at Beach Week (4 nights) right now with my child and 90 out of 110 of their classmates. We are at an all inclusive resort in Punta Cana. There are also close to 60 parents here.

Our travel agent is also here and the report she has been getting from management is that our kids have been polite and they love how they’re participating in activities and the dance parties at night.

We have 5 parents (more stay and help) signed up each night from 10 pm- 2 am to help ensure kids aren’t overserved, getting to their rooms safely, etc. from the main dance area/bar.

The kids are also so good to each other and are watching out for each other.

Have there been some shenanigans, I am sure. But the kids are not destructive, they’re listening to adults and they’re having a blast.

I am SO glad we are not in Corolla/ VA Beach, etc. The cost was also comparable.

A planned vacation (using a travel agent) with kids and parents.

Sent my son to Beach Week in OBX- hemmed and hawed a lot about the decision. He’s always been very responsible, and this week it’s been the same. I’m really glad I let him go.

Maybe not but it sounds like a perfect compromise IMO

This is a picture from a 2013 Beach Week house party that a candidate for Governor was at and became a minor scandal. https://www.baltimoremagazine.com/section/community/gansler-in-controversy-over-sons-senior-week-beach-party/

I think you can make your own judgments as to what is going on.

A little bit dated, but, yeah: this is what beach week looks like

The pearl-clutching set should stop reading now:

- there is a popular cocktail known by the name, “Sex on the Beach”.

Though no one can say for certain if it is true, many believe the name was derived from young people actually having (GASP!), sex, right on the beach. !!!

Shocking, I know.

This must be an SSSAS parent reporting from Club Med. I’m surprised they let the school come back after the incident between some students and a guest (not SA or anything like that, but police were involved and so was over serving) a few years ago.
