| Apparently I do “empty nester” hobbies. I train and compete my dogs in agility and participate in a weekly bowling league. Both are majority 55+ crowds. I’m the anomaly in my 30s. |

OP back again. I was offline for a week dealing with a parent's health crisis. This sandwich thing sucks, y'all.
But I wanted to check back in with sincere thanks for all the wonderful suggestions. I'm definitely checking out that master naturalist suggestion, because nature makes me happy. (For the hydroponic suggestion-- I feel like you see me. I finished the outside garden, and moved to obsessing over the inside stuff a couple years ago. Houseplants and hydroponic herbs and lettuces. Just started some strawberries this weekend!) I will mentally amp myself up for the possibility of starting some kind of organized exercise thing. Living a walkable life has been enough so far, but I know it'll take more as I get older. And, assuming my aging/ ailing parents don't require all my time, I think I WILL try to start an empty nesters group, and will post about it here if/when I get my act together. We'll call it something better though.

OP here-- I fantasize about getting a really good smart dog someday and training it to perfection. A well-trained dog is a joy. |
