Here are actions you can take:

5calls.org

Call EVERY SINGLE DAY. call both DC offices and local. If DC res, call Schumer and tell Norton to pass message on to peers.

Don’t fall into the cynical trap that “nothing matters”. It matters. It takes one minute per call. There’s ZERO excuse for not doing this. You don’t get to b itch and moan or curl up in a ball and cry. No one’s asking you to walk over the bridge in Selma and get clubbed by cops. I’m just asking you to pick up the GD phone.

And if you really want to have an impact, volunteer for one of the special elections in Florida or soon to be New York. And again, don’t give me “This seat is impossible to flip” Nothing is impossible, nothing..

Most of us are busy working and don’t have the time for this BS. Maybe if you did the same, you’d be in a better place.

This BS being DEMOCRACY? Then FAFO

Go look for a job to take up your time. It’s better for you.

Yeah, but Vance is 2x worse than Trump and very young.

How is he 2x worse than Trump?

He’s half his age which does make him twice as bad in that he will be around for a while. Though, I don’t think that he gets that he’s going to get nothing. He will be one of the ones left holding the bag when the trials come.

DP but Trump is too lazy to do anything except say dumb shit and sign Executive Orders written by other people. His power comes from the willingness of amoral traitors like Musk and Vance and Hegseth and Patel and Bondi and Gabbard and RFK Jr and Speaker Johnson and Scalia and Thomas and Gorsuch and Kavanaugh et Al. to actually carry out the nihilistic unconstitutional destructive actions to destroy the country.

This.

He’s just the useful face and name right now.

I get irritated by some media and people focusing on Trump this and Musk that — we need a lot more sunlight on the people hiding behind the rage-inducing headlines about them who are funding and enabling this *movement*

Seriously?

Before he was elected, Trump said he was going to rule as a dictator.

Now he is the President and has told us once again that he is a dictator, and he's not likely to allow elections again (you'll never have to vote again!)

Stop trying to blame this on the Democrats. '

The country is possibly losing its right to rule itself, according to our constitution. Keep your eye on the ball. This is serious.

Kamala is not in the picture anymore. Let it go.

I know we’re only a month in, but truly, what has Trump done yet to positively impact any of his voters? Gas prices/milk/egg prices haven’t gone down, taxes haven’t been cut, many of his voters have been fired from their jobs…. So, DEI really impacted everyone in their personal daily lives? The immigration stuff, albeit important, has been poorly executed and he had no strategic plan (and no infrastructure to pull it off). Meanwhile, he has fired many immigration judges and there are no longer enough competent federal prosecutors to handle the crooks. At best, he has created chaos.

I think that is true, to a degree. I know a lot of people who voted for Trump who aren't MAGA, including myself. I find MAGAs disgusting.

You are MAGA because you voted for Trump.

And you are equally as disgusting and corrupt as the POS you voted for.

+1 It’s almost worse. Not being completely brain washed and still justifying voting for this man. Why?

Because your candidate was worse. Do better next time. It says more about your candidate that Trump was a better option. Hopefully that sinks in.

Um, no.

Anyone is a better candidate than Trump. You just were too scared to vote for the black woman.

From Stathis Kalyvas, Professor of Government at Oxford, former Guggenheim fellow, not a hysterical guy

There is now total clarity, no matter how unimaginable things might seem. And they amount to this: The U.S. government has been taken over by a clique of extremists who have embarked on a process of regime change in the world's oldest democracy.

Trump's statement, "He who saves his country does not violate any Law" is no empty ranting. It is totally consistent with his actions of systematically dismantling the country's institutions, implemented with the assistance of the most powerful technology.

Vance's speech in Munich, a city of symbolic significance is there was ever one, is a direct attack on Europe, on freedom, and on democracy. All of which amount to an extraordinary disruption of the international system.

I struggle to find a historical parallel and I can think of no less than the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, even Munich in 1938. I have always refrained from invoking such analogies in the past; I always found them excessive. Not now.

The arrogance on display is staggering. They think their actions will increase U.S. power, but they are in fact wrecking their own country and, in the process, everyone else. This reminds me a lot of the Iraq invasion, but on a global scale.

The timing couldn't be worse. France and Germany are effectively with no government, elites are in disarray, people confused and disoriented. The only hope lies in the sheer enormity of the threat; it might awake us out of our slumber before it is too late.

Thank you. It's only because of American exceptionalism and because we think it can't happen to us that people don't see this.

Americans are way too trusting. It’s clear that nobody is coming to save us. The Republicans are fine with a monarchy, the military is fine with a monarchy, everyone’s fine with corruption because they think they can get on it too. I wish everyone would watch The Gilded Age (no hard history reading required!) and tell us if you’re okay with mass corruption, zero safety nets, no workers’ rights, and women and minorities being relegated.

How on earth did a thread about Trump’s post indicating that he is above the law turn into stupid arguments about Kamala Harris?!

The current president has stated the law does not apply to him. This is happening now. In America. Anyone who loves America should be appalled.
