Snow Day next Tuesday?

It’s not going to get super cold at any point, so provided we have enough plows and salt (ha ha ha), road conditions may not be that bad for that long. Fingers crossed for only Tues/Weds off.

Weather.com is garbage. The CWG write up this afternoon seems to make the most reasonable sense- not relying on one model like the apps or overhyping like a lot of the internet “experts.” If their take holds up, Tuesday would be normal, full day, Wednesday would be likely a snow day and Thursday is a tossup between delay and off.

That makes no sense considering the snow isn't even starting until at least 11. It's not going to be bad until Tuesday night.

I normally root for us to stay open as much as possible, but afternoon snowfall is the worst. Early release is great in theory, but elementary dismissal plans fall apart because parents haven’t truly got back-up care and parents get caught in traffic, and kids end up stranded well past regular time.

Praying for enough snow that Federal offices are closed. DW already had her return flight cancelled so the kids will have no one home.

I have two kids. With the holidays, snow, and sickness, we haven’t had a full week of them at school for seven weeks. Seems like we’re going to extend that to at least nine.

Based on Capital Weather Gang, very very unlikely Federal Government close on Tuesday.

Unless your kids are older and could stay solo, I would make backup plans now.

Yikes this is tricky. The watch doesn’t starting the afternoon and Reid seems to be following that when dealing with closures and delays.

If they did a 2 hour early out they need to announce it Monday.

Could they at least cancel the elementary school early release tomorrow so the kids can have a full day on Monday?

not all elementary schools have the early release tomorrow. So rescheduling it would be tricky.

Definitely, if they are thinking about it they should announce the possibility ASAP so families can plan.

This will not happen. Sorry.

They’re optional and can’t be graded. They’ve NEVER done this so I think they’re assuming we will be out T-F with that bear of a forecast. Yeah yeah I know this is FCPS but they aren’t that different in closures … felt it was worth mentioning here as a heads up.

Is this the county employees doing this work? It’s a great idea!
