| Look at Utah, UDel and Miami Ohio. |
I don't have a dog in this fight, but please. "Fiction instead of textbooks"? What kind of asinine comment is that? They have a very well-respected nursing program. DP |
Then - even worse - a terrible case of false superiority. There is something terribly wrong with anyone who makes a point to tear down other schools, for whatever reason. It speaks volumes, none of it good. DP |
+100 Poor, insecure dopes. |
DP. Tell us, oh "tolerant" ones - did your quirky kids seek out large, sporty universities? No? Why not? |
| Why no UVA/William and Mary? |
I’m sure OP is aware of UVA and W&M. How many “B” students do you think they take though? |
Which part of VA are they in? |
|
Liberty a very unique educational experience and the kids who aren’t actively seeking it that are miserable. The student code of conduct includes:
1) weekly mandatory religious service (convocation). 2) RAs search your room at least weekly 3) prohibition on alcohol/drug use even while off-campus or home on break. 4) dress code - no shorts in class. No two pieces in on-campus pools, etc. |
| ^ these are such little things some may not like ... there are much bigger problems than this. |
Well documented cover ups of sexual assault Also covered up assaults by the sicko who turned out to be a serial killer |
| Have you looked at WVU? It has a high acceptance rate and has a similar vibe as JMU. Do a tour and I think your DC may be surprised. They give decent auto merit too for grades. |
|
Op here. Liberty is a hard pass so to the person who keeps suggesting, they can stop.

Seriously!!! It's ok for a kid to want to avoid the artsy emo vive schools. This isn't about tolerance. |
My kid had a similar UW GPA. We wanted some merit. Some schools on our list. Kentucky the gpa cut off for reasonable merit is 3.6 UW. Came to over 40K. WVU for $11,000 was maybe 3.5 weighted? Cheapest we deal we got. Arizona maybe a 3.6 UW? Decent value but still between 40-45. Thought about UNC Charlotte due to low oos tuition. Delaware shot down due cost. Miami of Ohio give merit based on a weighted GPA. So, didn't work out that well for my kid. You probably aren't getting a low cost (comparable to in state) to an OOS big name private with under a 3.5. Maybe if you have a great SAT. |
