Underrated gems in VA for B student

Schools like Susquehanna, Juniata, Gettysburg, and some of the Jesuit schools like the Loyolas.

You don’t know until you apply but run the net price calculator and also, see what you get offered.

I agree, no merit likely for B students (3.5 and below) at top SLACs or some OOS publics like Pitt, Penn State, Indiana, U Tennessee Knoxville, etc.

You MAY get into -may- Gettysburg but you're not getting much merit with a "B" average. My DC was offered the highest scholarship there but ended up going elsewhere. The top kids get money there and the "B" students won't get enough to balance the price tag.

Having said that, Gettysburg was awesome and I was sad my kid decided not to go there.

A B student isn’t getting into JMU anymore.

A B student from VA public has never gotten in.

Huh?

So far, thank you for the helpful responses. We are going to look at:

Longwood
CNU
WVU

Are there any others that would be a good fit for a sporty mainstream child that are akin to JMU/Penn State/VT but more for a B profile student?

This year my 2.5/2.7 (NOT KIDDING) was accepted by ECU, WVU, ODU, Radford and GA Southern. Deferred to RD from EA at Coastal Carolina.

Where will you chose? My ds wants to go to ECU, just can’t see paying oos tuition.

Forgot I posted this. Still undecided. Attending admitted student days. Student has their favorite, but like you, not excited about paying OOS. FWIW, ECU OOS COA isn't too bad ($37k).

Definitely throw Shenandoah in mix for nursing or sports science. They have strong programs across the board in anything health related.
