DS Humanities Major
1530 SAT
10 AP/honors (Calc BC/11, Linear Algebra/12, Econ, Latin IV, APUSH, APWorld, AS Lit)
Gpa on a 100 scale- attends an OOS boarding school. 97 weighted, 94 UW.

The GPA is lower than others- he’s had a few B’s but I’m hoping that the rigor is enough. It’s a top choice for him.

Your kid may be a likely candidate for UGA Honors. Fingers crossed!!

He’s at a boarding school out of state (not Georgia) and we live in VA.

That would be amazing- but really he just wants to get in. I’m a bit concerned because his school calls AP classes something else and I don’t know how that will translate in their GPA recalculation. Not a lot of data for other kids applying there so I’m not sure how well they know the curriculum and I don’t expect they spend a ton of time on each app based on the numbers they get.

Which Ivy do you think is most similar to UGA? (I ask as a parent of a kid who applied to zero Ivies and is really hoping for Morehead today...)

My kid got in last year from oos with same SAT, 3.7 unweighted from top magnet school and 16 APs. But did NOT get into honors program. I have heard that it is easier for boys to get in to honors than girls, since there are more girls that apply and they like to keep it balanced.

Good luck.

UGA hasn't considered gender in any admissions decisions for 30 years.

Are Morehead-Cain semi finalists announced today? Are you referring to UNC?

My comment is specific to honors college only. It happened to boy-girl twins we know too. Both got into UGA. Boy got in to honors college, girl didn't. Girl had higher stats. And, another female friend - admitted to UGA from oos, but did not get into honors (2 cycles ago). Anecdotal obviously. Our daughter did not end up going to UGA because they did not offer her auto-admission to the honors college.

For oos acceptance, what is the range for UGA GPA?
Anonymous
Middle 50%:
4.13-4.38 Core GPA
9-13 AP, IB courses
1370-1500 SAT
31-34 ACT
50% in-state admit rate
25% oos admit rate

EA Class of 2028
