Which Ivy do you think is most similar to UGA? (I ask as a parent of a kid who applied to zero Ivies and is really hoping for Morehead today...)
Are Morehead-Cain semi finalists announced today? Are you referring to UNC?

Ok thank you! Had no idea the honors college was called Morehead.

DS Humanities Major
1530 SAT
10 AP/honors (Calc BC/11, Linear Algebra/12, Econ, Latin IV, APUSH, APWorld, AS Lit)
Gpa on a 100 scale- attends an OOS boarding school. 97 weighted, 94 UW.

The GPA is lower than others- he’s had a few B’s but I’m hoping that the rigor is enough. It’s a top choice for him.

Your kid may be a likely candidate for UGA Honors. Fingers crossed!!

My kid got in last year from oos with same SAT, 3.7 unweighted from top magnet school and 16 APs. But did NOT get into honors program. I have heard that it is easier for boys to get in to honors than girls, since there are more girls that apply and they like to keep it balanced.

Good luck.

What was his test score?

SAT 1530 (not superscore)

UGA hasn't considered gender in any admissions decisions for 30 years.
My comment is specific to honors college only. It happened to boy-girl twins we know too. Both got into UGA. Boy got in to honors college, girl didn't. Girl had higher stats. And, another female friend - admitted to UGA from oos, but did not get into honors (2 cycles ago). Anecdotal obviously. Our daughter did not end up going to UGA because they did not offer her auto-admission to the honors college.
Don't be daft. The University System of Georgia flatly prohibits consideration of sex/gender in any decision. UGA's honors college isn't exempt and it isn't going rogue.

If you don’t get auto-admitted to the honors college in EA, you can submit an application for honors in January.

First, that's an empty term. Second, the only public university that's anything like an Ivy League university is William & Mary. Third, the strongest public university in the southeast isn't any of those; it's Georgia Tech.

Does full pay matter to these big OOS schools?

It’s not an empty term just because you don’t like it. UGA is more like UVA than GT. GT is like VT, apples and oranges.

If it's not an empty term, then what's its definition? Link, please.

GT, MIT, VT are all technical institutions, unlike UGA, UNC, UVA.

Harvard, Princeton, and Elon are all midsize universities.
