We haven’t only because ED decision happening tomorrow (yeah, I know it’s only like $50 but we missed first thing…so now it’s just 24 hours).

Any advice on the best/coolest dorms for freshmen?

BDM is the newest and the location can’t be beat. https://housing.uga.edu/black-diallo-miller-hall/

You aren't picking the dorm - I don't even know why they ask. You'll do that in May/June.
Just put 3 choices down and move along.
BDM is indeed the nicest, newest with best location, but my daughter chose Brumby due to social aspect - and that still seems to be holding Also good Russell.

So just put BDM, Russell, Brumby and then worry about it in May - and maybe you wont' even have to worry at all if you get your ED!

Just posting to say I'm so jealous!! I have a kid there now and we are obsessed. My other kid was deferred and it's killing me to wait and also have to wait for housing.

I take offense because I'm the one who gave you the good housing information - I hope you all got signed up early.

DCUM is nothing if not a source of humor.

I so appreciate that you did! My DD got on bright and early yesterday as per your advice. Not sure she will go there but it's her first acceptance so thought it would be a good idea to be on the safe side. Thank you!

Excellent - I take pride in using the power of DCUM for good. Go Dawgs

We also took your advice and stalked the portal. Thank you!!

It is good practice! You don't even want to know the hoops you are going to go through to get an orientation time. In may. You have five months to train. JK...it's the same drill but they don't tell you when it opens and sometimes its at midnight and sometimes its not, and minutes can separate you from getting the one you want. And it's usually when the kids are taking an AP Test, so it DOES fall on the moms

Wait! I don't think they asked anything about 3 choices for the registration. Did we miss something?

Wait! I don't think they asked anything about 3 choices for the registration. Did we miss something?

They didn't ask about dorms generally - they did ask about interest in certain communities (e.g. Spanish Language).

Sorry didn't mean to panic you - I guess things changed since my daughter did it a few years ago...the main thing is to make sure that security deposit hit your credit card!

Could you tell us more about what makes UGA so popular right now? Everyone seems excited about the place.

The same reason other southern schools are seeing a boost - good weather, great school spirit, great football, nice work/play balance, fantastic networking and more of a melting pot than you realize. There is a place for everyone.

For Georgia kids, its great because of the Hope/Zell scholarship which basically pays tuition - so they attract some of the brightest kids from within the state
For non-Georgia kids, - same as above - classic college experience, good Greek life or not, Georgians are welcoming, cute little town, ability to get into a good, ranked business school (some programs are top 10 like risk management and real esate) when other schools make getting business really tough.

Sometimes Sidwell students will post on their Instagram, that might be the best way to see if there are any UGA admits.
