Actually, pretty smart. Nobody can trap them into marriage and kids when they don't want. If they do get married their wife USUALLY will outlive them and take care of them in old age. They won't have the anxiety and cost of kids.

I love my kids, and wouldn't trade them in for anything ... but if I didn't have them? Well, as a woman I might be worried about old age but I'd be working hard to make sure I had enough money to care for myself.

Money can hire people to take care of you, but it won't provide a family who will love you and be at your bedside holding your hand when you breathe your last breath.

I'm not a kid person, but I have two kids. I'm grateful for them and love them very much.

Both my ILs have passed. Most of their friends had already passed, and they were not close to their nieces and nephews. It would've been incredibly sad for them to die without loved ones next to them.

OK. But that doesn't make people want to bring kids into the world necessarily. My kids want kids but are concerned about the environment, so might not. Some people have mental health issues or physical health issues in the family and don't want to pass on their propensity for it. Some people just don't want kids.

You can make a family and find people to love and be loved by who aren't your children. If you can't, then you have some personal work to do.

And randomly without any prompting or been having a discussion that made any sense to bring it up told me he didn’t want kids and had a vasectomy. He apparently had a g/f and said they talked about it. All I could think about is ok-but like what if you don’t end up staying with this g/f and meeting someone you do in fact want to have kids with. Seems so so young to make such a permanent decision. I feel like the changes in your /wants needs that happen between young twenties and early thirties are pretty vast.

Or we could just trust people when they say they don't want children? Crazy concept, but not everyone wants kids, not everyone changes their mind, and some people know very early on that they don't want them. There isn't anything wrong with them, and making that decision for their own health and future is none of your business.

This is a little different but my ex got a vasectomy at 27. We have two kids though. He kept knocking up other women after we split- he hates condoms and pull out game is weak (thus how I ended up pregnant at only 21&23, combined with me being anti hormones/BC). He got tired of paying them off to get a abortions I suppose. Maybe these men have had accidentals and had the women get abortions, and figure it's best to just not have kids than risk having kids with the wrong women. In my ex's case, these women were crazy and he didn't realize until after he knocked them up.

Women now make as much as men, so they are subject to the same laws that once benefited them. 50/50 is the norm. And you don't pay child support if she makes more than you.

This isn’t true.

Agree.

However I don’t think there is a rise in vax by single unmarried heterosexual men. Op hasn’t supported the premise in any statistically significant way at all.

Most men are ignorant about vax and scared of it. Including my 43 yo spouse who’s scared to do it yet knows nothing about it, the little procedure, the quick recovery, the insurance coverage, etc. And he has no friends and lies to his doctors, so it won’t be coming up.
So stupid.

Nope.

Vasectomies are dropping across the USA. Too many cultures never heard of it here and the gay population doesn’t care.

Most people have no idea what they want when they are young. Sure some probably never change their view on certain things but you can still not want something and wait on a permanent (obviously you can reverse but it’s not a small inexpensive thing to do so) surgery. Having a medicinal procedure at a young age seems…extreme.

For white people who hit their prime at 21 yes for others no. My prime was 38. I'm 42 now.
