She picked Tim

This was a savvy choice.

I think Kelly was a better choice. I like Walz but he's not exciting, and Americans are so superficial and want exciting.

I'm also a huge Kelly fan, but I disagree. Walz is less exciting on paper compared to astronaut Kelly but far more exciting in person. Walz is exceptionally warm, funny, and engaging. He's a terrific communicator.

Kelly had a red flag that was insurmountable.

Shapiro was the better pick. Would have gotten her PA.

But she would have lost Michigan in return as so so many Muslim voters there pissed at Biden for Gaza response….

Shapiro would have caused party infighting which is sad to see a Jewish politician as controversial…

He’s the same age as Harris who’s being described as “young”

Both of them should have gotten a facelift before running for President or VP. Too late for that now, so another missed opportunity to gain an edge over the republicans.

WTAH. Kamala is beautiful, and I’m not a super fan.

I like this pick. He goes from a social studies teacher and high ranking army officer to public servant for the people if Minn. to candidate for VP of the USA.

Vance is an elite Yale law school weirdo funded by a really wealthy tech weirdo.

Exactly. I really wanted Kelly because he is a real man and example for my kids. But, apparently he was out of the running last week and I am sure there was a good reason.

Wut. What does that even mean? Why do you sound so weird?

Elon and his acolytes are basically online trolls and sad examples of men. Kelly has actually done brave and heroic things.

What? Walz leftist?

My friend lives in Staples and he said he has a 3rd grader learning CRT.
He also saw a guy going in the Women's bathroom once when he was in Target. we are going to need to debate this to see what we want in our future.

a) like MLK was an American hero?
b) a unisex public bathroom?

Tim Kaine is my senator and I love him in that role, but he couldn't nationalize his message for a national race. His stump speeches were still very Virginia-focused. I've heard Walz on a number of podcasts and news interviews now and he sounds like he knows that he's running for the whole country. His anecdotes about the work he has done in MN always come back to a larger point about what he can do for the country.

Finally we have a ticket of normal people.

I'll take it

He also grew up in Nebraska and represented a rural, right-leaning Congressional District. He knows his constituents in a way that Vance never will. The contrast will be so stark if they debate. I'll love the quips by Walz of "Vance, you remind me of one of my students..." with some devastating takedown.

Housing? Good. The GOP never discusses or does a thing to address housing.

Socialism! Or maybe communism! s/

One person's socialism is another's neighborly actions as Walz said recently. This sounds reasonable and moderate and good for the welfare of his constituents.

Right?! Why didn’t she pick Shapiro and try to make a battle for PA? Did Shapiro not want it? Did the opposition research find stuff on him or Kelly? This is “meh” for me but maybe he’ll surprise us?

If she’s going to get PA, it will be on her own, she doesn’t need the state’s gov to carry the state. I like Shapiro a lot but his previous statements are a distraction in this current political environment. People have short memories though and who knows what the landscape will look like in ~10 years, when he’ll be 61 - a very normal age to run for pres. Plus I think he needs to stay as Gov longer - he’s only in his first term.

Given everything going on Israel right now, the dual loyalty thing could've totally splintered the Democrats and it will always haunt Shapiro given the IDF story. I say this as a Jew who knows the antisemitic tropes too well.

Not to mention creating a constitutional crisis if he ever had to serve in her stead as Commander in Chief.

Gross antisemitism on display. Same comment would not be said about other groups.

Reform Jew here. Other groups don't volunteer for foreign military service and expect to be the leader of their domestic military. Do I agree that it's a constitutional crisis? No, not at all. And it wouldn't be an issue for most Jewish politicians. It will be an issue for Shapiro though. I'm so relieved he wasn't chosen.

He did not volunteer for foreign military service. That is misinformation. He was a volunteer. Two totally different things and very common for Jews visiting Israel to provide volunteer service. Please if you are going to speak for the Jewish community be informed.
