Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
This is merely a stepping stone for her bigger ambitions. |
Correct. If they cared about public sentiment and perception, they wouldn't have dared made the hire, but they don't and so they did. |
It's because she's a Rockstar despite all the haters. |
| Don't worry it won't impact MCPS because April Key cut the university partnerships position in HR. |
| This is an OUTRAGE. |
She was such a rockstar that she lost the confidence of teachers, parents and BOE members. Yup, rockstar!
|
| Rockstar is a bad analogy. I would say disgraced politician like a mix of trump and marion barry. |
Give a rest. This is the most progressive district outside of California. No one has said a negative word about Dr. Felder or any of the other poc on the board or in central office. We are a group of people who are incredibly tired of the shenanigans at mcps and she proved herself to be the clown in charge when it came to those shenanigans. I'm not signing the petition but umd just came off the potential list for both of my students. I couldn't stand to have their academic careers continue in an mcps-like environment. |
+1 don't care about skin color. Care about competence. My kid is currently at UMD. My only consolation is that she was hired in the College of Education. My kid is in CMNS. |
Haha |
I believe this is what’s called “pulling the race card.” |
What? To become State Superintendent of Schools? That would be a big mistake on the part of the state. It's one thing to create a do-nothing, well-paying position for her at UMD's College of Education. It would be quite another to put her into any position of authority ever again. She was fired by the state's largest school district, for well-known reasons. If she has any smarts, she'll be satisfied with what she's got. |
^^ 100% this. MD is off my DD’s list. Sounds extreme but hiring this person with her very public shortcomings was just plain stupid. I do got to hand it to her though. Millions from MCPS and a Cush well paying job now at the university. I would love to know what the thought process was for this hire and what she is expected to do, if anything. |
Well yes, I prefer to have Anyone in charge that can provide a benefit to me. Don’t we all? Don’t care what their skin tone is but McKnight was terrible and she happens to be black. |
|
Even in her bio, there's truth-stretching/lying: "McKnight brings more than 25 years of experience in school administration and instructional leadership."
https://education.umd.edu/news/07-08-24-monifa-mcknight-serve-inaugural-deans-fellow How is it "more than 25 years" when she got her first job as a teacher in 1999, and her first job as an administrator in 2005/2006? |
