I totally get why she'd be hired at UMD. Doesn't erase or condone whatever happened in MCPS. There was an element of differential targeting due to who she was, that just would not have happened otherwise. No matter what happened.

Literally the typo'd title of this thread says it all....can't make this stuff up.

I honestly couldn’t parse that one out—what’s “wasps” supposed to be?

It’s nowhere close to “info,” or “details,” but I couldn’t figure out what else might have been meant. “Deets”?

I assumed they meant "WaPo"

For ppl maybe younger--WASP is a commonly-used acronym for white anglo saxon protestant

below the initial post it said WaPo.

As a MCPS teacher this is so demoralizing to see a failed manipulative admin keep failing up and keep moving to these gigs. This is such a bad look for UMD.

I have met McKnight. She says all the right things but you can tell she is just telling you what you want to hear like a cartoon politician.

Do we know how much they are paying her?

Submit a PIA query and find out.

State salaries are public knowledge - but since she has just been hired - we will have to wait for the annual salary data release. Of course who knows she may have salary lines from several sources - so we may not even know her full pay amount.

This is the dumbest petition I have ever seen. You all can’t stand to see black people in charge of anything until benefits you.

Not at all. It's that we can't stand to see incompetent people in charge of anything.

Regardless of the impetus for the petition, it's dumb because people in leadership who prompted this hiring decision don't care about petitions from the public.

Ultimately UMD wants to get the job done and she can do it. I suggest all of you complaining up your resume so you can make high level decisions or just sit back and watch those who have worked their butts off continue to rise.

HOW can she do it? She is charged with making connections with school districts, and yet she led the largest school district in the state and it was a disaster. How can SHE lead initiative like this without the proven skills to do it. Its not that UMD doesn't need this job done, the point is Monifa is NOT the person to do it.

+1 She's shown she can't lead a k-12 school district. What makes you think she can lead a college?
