Biden tells governors he got a medical checkup

I don’t get it - why are people talking about Michelle Obama? Is there any indication she is interested to run? How about Amy Klubatchar(?) I liked her last time.

Because they're trying to draw attention away from the Presumptive nominee, Kamala Harris.

We should be discussing her VP pick.

Who?

Kamala Harris is not the presumptive nominee. She’s a VP presumptive nominee.

She also hasn’t run for President since five minutes into the Democratic primary in 2020.

Biden tells Democratic governors he needs more sleep and plans to stop scheduling events after 8 p.m.
By Edward-Isaac Dovere, CNN
Thu July 4, 2024

(CNN) — President Joe Biden told Democratic governors during a meeting at the White House on Wednesday that part of his plan going forward is to stop scheduling events after 8 p.m. so that he can get more sleep, according to three sources briefed on his comments.

The remarks, first reported by The New York Times, came as the 81-year-old Biden sought to reassure a group of more than 20 state leaders about his ability to defeat former President Donald Trump in November and govern effectively for another four years.

The comment left several of the governors in the room frustrated, sources told CNN, and is one of the reasons that some of the participants have been rankled by the statement of loyalty and enthusiasm from them distributed by the Biden campaign on Thursday.

The White House and the Biden campaign did not immediately comment about what the president said.

Its a tactic of the orangeone supporting party anything associated with Obama gets them riled up, Obama himself can't run again, but they can throw that name out there by mentioning Michelle.

I do not believe Kamala Harris is going to rally most Americans to vote for her. She has tons of baggage and did not perform well at all when she ran for president. She didn't even make it to the first primary. Her performance as VP has been mediocre and she's usually hidden from public view. She's often cringe to listen to, has trouble speaking intelligently about issues, and there just doesn't seem to be a lot there.

I like Amy Klobuchar as well. But she doesn't have a natural base of support. She isn't very well known. And running for president is a billion dollar operation - field offices, volunteers, staff, television, social media, GOTV infrastructure, travel, polling etc. I think it's impossible for anyone with relatively low name recognition to put it all together in such a short period of time. And then there's the burden of being appointed the nominee by party elders, which is un-American.

Biden and the DNC really screwed over Americans who don't want Trump. And the consequences are going to be immense.

President Joe Biden on Wednesday evening told more than 20 Democratic governors in a private meeting that he underwent a medical checkup after last week’s debate and is fine, according to three people with knowledge of the discussion.

During an hour-long meeting prompted by intensifying concerns about his health and political viability, one governor asked Biden about his physical condition. The president mentioned having had a checkup in recent days and asserted that he remains in good health, knocking on wood for effect, according to two of those people, who were granted anonymity to describe a private meeting.

That statement came just hours after press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre sidestepped direct questions from reporters who asked if he’d been examined since the debate.
“The president has regular annual physicals that we release in a thorough report,” she said. “We’re going to continue to do that.”

Biden’s remark, according to a person familiar with the president’s schedule, was in reference to a short checkup by a White House physician in the days following the debate due to lingering symptoms from his cold. The exam, that person added, was brief and did not include any major tests.

Does this address the concerns about Biden’s health satisfactorily?

No. Biden needs to face reality. He’s just too old. He’s in very good health for his age. But he needs to let it go.

Trump is only 3 years younger and in worse health than Biden given he's morbidly obese, is addicted to junk food, and has far more of a family history of alzheimers and cardiac issues than Biden's family..

Trump actually looks like he's lost some weight.

It's been shocking. I've worked there through four Presidents and I've never seen anything like this.

I want to vote for Biden if he's the candidate, but I'm going to have a hard time doing it. I would vote for anyone else the democrats put up with much more enthusiasm. If Biden is the candidate, I might have to either not vote or write in. He's not fit for another four years. And yes, I agree that Trump is a lunatic and know that not voting for Biden is a vote for Trump, but I am not sure my conscience will allow a vote for Biden either.

I mean very likely after winning and being sworn in Biden would step down end of 2025 allowing Harris to take over
The plan is to get to 2025

If that was truly the plan it convinces me every more that the Democratic leadership is stupid. What a miscalculation! Biden ran on being a transitional candidate. He should have not run allowing any D interested (including Harris) run in the primaries. The DNC should not have backed any one candidate. A crowded field with equal chances for all would have been the best bet. So disappointed.

Except Biden is not winning in November. The polling is atrocious across the board. There is no chance he wins the Electoral College when he's even losing New Jersey and New Hampshire, not to mention every single "battleground" state. A Biden election is not happening. So the plan to get to 2025 and resign the presidency for Harris is delusional.

How is Trump winning though? More people will vote for him compared to 2020?

Um, yes? Is this a trick question?

No, more people will not vote for Trump, but fewer will vote at all, and then Biden will lose votes.

And I do think that some who voted for Biden bc they thought he was an honest broker will be totally turned off and vote for Trump.

Trump is horrible. But the question is who can win against him. It’s no longer Biden.

Yes, particularly since he is walking and biking.
