President Joe Biden on Wednesday evening told more than 20 Democratic governors in a private meeting that he underwent a medical checkup after last week’s debate and is fine, according to three people with knowledge of the discussion.

During an hour-long meeting prompted by intensifying concerns about his health and political viability, one governor asked Biden about his physical condition. The president mentioned having had a checkup in recent days and asserted that he remains in good health, knocking on wood for effect, according to two of those people, who were granted anonymity to describe a private meeting.

That statement came just hours after press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre sidestepped direct questions from reporters who asked if he’d been examined since the debate.
“The president has regular annual physicals that we release in a thorough report,” she said. “We’re going to continue to do that.”

Biden’s remark, according to a person familiar with the president’s schedule, was in reference to a short checkup by a White House physician in the days following the debate due to lingering symptoms from his cold. The exam, that person added, was brief and did not include any major tests.

Does this address the concerns about Biden’s health satisfactorily?

No. Biden needs to face reality. He’s just too old. He’s in very good health for his age. But he needs to let it go.

Trump is only 3 years younger and in worse health than Biden given he's morbidly obese, is addicted to junk food, and has far more of a family history of alzheimers and cardiac issues than Biden's family..

PP. Trump is also too old and also has incipient dementia, probably Alzheimer’s. Trump is not in good health for his age. He should also head off to his golf course.

My relatives with various levels of cognitive decline say the exact same thing when I ask about what their doctors say. I’ve learned to just leave them alone.

You forgot that a few people watched the debate live. Oops.

Democrats should decline the second debate and move up their convention. Why is it so late this year anyway? To reduce the time that the Queen is subject to media appearances and discussion?

The scrutiny on this is rich considering who actually believes we ever received any important truthful information on Trumps health. From Dr Ronny? Who clearly lied about his weight. And then there are the word salads he throws out in his speeches on a constant basis. He was already crazy but there is clearly a decline.

Alzheimers is not hereditary.

I watched the debates along with 60 million other people. I don't like Trump's words but he is far more fit and acute and engaged and sharp as a tack than Joe Biden.

That is why the NYT immediately came out with an editorial pleading Biden to step aside.

My 73 year old father is in great health for his age - but he's in mild cognitive decline.

So no, this is not acceptable, the Governors aren't going to buy it, and neither will anyone else.

This next week the Democrat Party will start replacing Biden on the ticket.

Biden could easily live another 8 to 10 years in his current state, as long as he follows doctors orders. I’ve seen it firsthand.

I don’t know that I would call Trump sharp as a tack- he is old too. But compared Biden, it did appear that way

There is a definite link and likelihood that if your parent had Alzheimers (as Trump's father did) that you may also develop Alzheimers. https://www.alz.org/alzheimers-dementia/what-is-alzheimers/causes-and-risk-factors/genetics

Trump was just making things up all throughout the debate. Unlike Biden, Trump was also unable to stay focused on the question that the moderators asked. It was clear to me that unlike Biden, he didn't actually have command of any real facts or figures. Fact checkers had a field day with the nonsense that came out of Trump. People with dementia have issues with short term memory, they are bad at memorizing new facts and figures, they have difficulty staying focused on topic. Trump showed far more of those signs during the debate than Biden did.
