It's not a mystery as to why immigration flows are uncontrolled. The government needs more bodies to generate tax revenue to pay for the future debt and liabilities. And the domestic population is not generating replacement bodies. And the corporate lobbies love a growing labor pool to keep costs down. So win-win for the people in power to shirk their responsibility to Americans. |

It's right to be cynical when looking at the US. It's a gigantic country that wants cheap labor. Republicans make a lot of noise, but you'll notice that no Republican is advocating for the arrest of business owners that hire illegal migrants, which would be the quickest way to end the mayhem on the border. Europe is a little more complicated. There's a colonial history, which is a big factor in countries like France. And many of the boomer politicians have a kind of kumbaya progressivism that disregards cultural differences. And as it turns out, Arabs don't seem to have the same values as Swedes. Violent crime is now a problem in Malmo and Stockholm. Generally, Europeans are realizing that things aren't working in regards to immigration. The problem is that some of the right wing parties come with a lot of extra garbage. |
No, controlling the actual border and prohibiting unlawful entry in the first place is the quickest way. Why do you think Biden issued his latest executive order? |
| The west works and innovates for the benefit of the third world. Their population explodes while ours slaves away into extinction. |

Sunni Islamic Civilisation is taking its place as the strongest world civilisation once more.
The age of Christian marriage, abstinence and no contraception that created the high fertility culture which produced the current West is gone. The future is Muslim. |
Bingo. |
It can be disheartening for me to spend time in places I work speaking to people off the record, like in southeast Asia, and be hounded by outsiders observing how our US culture is self-destructing. Being outside the western media bubble can be quite enlightening... and depressing. Perhaps what we're seeing in Europe is a sign of an awakening, but I doubt it. |

European countries are seeing their cultures disappear as a result of unchecked immigration. It has taken them awhile but they are finally realizing that if they do not act now it will be too late.
A warning to others around the world. |
This. If newcomers assimilate, you don’t have a backlash. But many newcomers aren’t assimilating. Sorry, not sorry: western women don’t want to see Muslim women adhering to backwards religious/social rules…it’s jarring and scary…sets back our cause. The western world has become far less religious in general, so it’s logically that newcomers who adhere to strict religious constructs would be worrisome. Plus: crime. All it takes is one story about a violent rape or mugging to foster fear. |

One of my college friends has dual American and Swedish citizenship. He lived over in Sweden after college until now (almost 20 years). He's now back living in the US and I asked him how could he possibly want to live back in the US when Sweden has all of that great healthcare, public services, etc.
Well, he said the healthcare was overrated for starters. Sure, there's universal coverage, but it also meant long lines, rationing, and not always getting the care you need because of cost cutting. He was always very liberal, but even he said Sweden has far too much immigration that's ruining the country. I was shocked that even someone like him would say something like that. He described Swedish cities as now 'dirty' and having way more crime because of immigrants who were not assimilating and refusing to do so. He also cited things like Muslims demanding to have separate pools for men and women due to cultural norms. In summary, he thought the country was a s show now because of unchecked mass migration. Sure, the US gets massive amounts of immigrants he said, but the US handles it way better because it has always been US identity. Mass migration is a lot more devastating to individual countries with their own identities based on monolithic culture. |
The US has handled it well in the past...... not so much now. When large cities are spending billions to feed and house migrants and school systems across the country are struggling to educate the migrant children who speak no English and are not literate in their home language, and every day there is a report of another violent crime by a recently-arrived migrant.........we are not handling it well. |
To say the unsayable-immigrants to the US are typically Roman-Catholics. Immigrants to Europe are typically Muslims. I’m not so sure the US would be comfortable if we suddenly started seeing the same cultural changes that are happening in Europe. |
I'm on the left and I agree completely. I abhor the right wing for its belligerent nationalism and bigotry and how it uses populist rhetoric to disguise the same old corporate self-dealing that helps the same elites the population loves to hate. And I am deeply disturbed by the inaction on climate change (largely driven by the fact the governments choose punitive measures targeting working people rather than actually requiring corporations to make sacrifices). BUT... on immigration, the above statement is 100% correct. Take the Netherlands for example. For centuries, the Dutch have been regarded as the most iconically progressive people in the world. Now that is backsliding because of the influx of migrants from very conservative and religious places. There's validity in the statement that you and become so tolerant that you tolerate intolerance, and that is not OK. Having entire neighborhoods where women can't walk alone, or covered head to toe, is not progressive. Demands for gender separation is not progressive. Elevating the religious feelings of some over the human rights and freedom of all is not progressive. |
