No, most women are not obese and you are seriously underweight.

It’s sad. These people are going to be on this medication for life. Many will never develop healthy exercise habits which are as important as weight.

I am max, 10 pounds heavier than I should be.

I mean… what you’re wearing doesn’t tell us anything. Lots of obese/overweight women squeeze into clothing that is clearly too small for them, probably in an effort to convince themselves that they really are that size.

How much do you weigh? I’m also 5’2. I weigh 115 and I was lately at patient first and they did not tell me I was obese. I also do barre!

I feel like the bolded can be the new "lightly fried tuna"

It's relevant...the first pp wears a size 27, is 5'2, and does barre. Comparing apples to apples...

+1 True. And, now that these drugs are approved for young people, the next generation will think this is normal.

Most people don't exercise, fat or not fat. No exercise + thinner is better than no exercise + fat...

There are definitely segments of the younger population that are more health conscious. But there are others that are not.

These drugs becoming mainstream as a fix is just another way life paths will widen. You can't short cut doing the work to be successful in life. Training for a marathon using a shake weight versus actually doing the training will have exactly the expected outcome.

Obese people are more likely to exercise if they lose weight, because everything is easier on the joints when less heavy, you're not out of breath as fast, your body doesn't hurt as much... So these drugs are just really a useful tool increasing the chance they will be more active, if that's the component you are worried about.

My body fat was measured at 32% at the time. So…clinically obese.

That's probably borderline obese because she was 19. Youngest I could find online was 20-39 and normal tops out at 32 per cent.

According to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, there are healthy body fat percentages based on your age. For people aged 20 to 39, women should aim for 21% to 32% of body fat. Men should have 8% to 19%. For people 40 to 59, women should fall between 23% to 33% and men should fall around 11% to 21%. If you’re aged 60 to 79, women should have 24% to 35% body fat and men should have 13% to 24%.

If you have to ask why, you are part of the obesity epidemic.

I’m 5’3 and a size 8 but my BMI is overweight

People at work tell me that I’m small or don’t eat . That should tell you all need to know about the obesity epidemic

What are you talking about? Many of us ARE developing better exercising habits because less weight makes it easier to exercise! It's easier on the knees and easier on the heart. When I was 40 pounds heavier, I was on a quest to take the stairs 3x/day at work (15 flights/day). After 4 months, I was as winded as I was on Day 1, my knees hurt, and I didn't lose a pound. After taking Wegovy and losing 40 pounds, I can run up the stairs with much less effort, my knees no longer hurt, and I am not that winded.

You know what's not normal? Feeling hungry ALL THE TIME. Wegovy lessens that feeling and makes us NORMAL.

What did people do 30+years ago when the overweight and obese were outliers? This is unsustainable. As soon as you go off those drugs, the hunger comes back. Soon we're going to have a large chunk of the population who will say they NEED these drugs because it's the ONLY way.

Medicaid/Medicare cannot sustain this cost. Forget national healthcare. I don't want it if it means we have to pay for this.

How did the human race make it several millennia of organized living and not manage to have millions of its members some how “hungry all the time”? I wonder how that modern phenomenon came about?

And the answer is not it’s entirely the food systems fault.
