Look a a grocery cart, so much processed foods. No one cooks anymore. They all want convenience. They they sit in front of the television and stream shows all night eating snacks. America has an obesity epidemic. It’s a big problem. But everyone wants to take a pill or shot to fix it.

Yeah, screw those people. Let them die of heart attacks or strokes. Cause they don't deserve to live if they are this lazy.

I didn’t see any of that in what was posted. I did see a lot of true facts. Do you dispute any of that as it relates to the American population and their behavior?

+1

Unfortunately, I think most of above is true. I see it too.

Yes. I rarely see normal thin people like myself (5'5" 100lbs, 45 years old mom of three) anywhere, even at the gym, even at the yoga studio. Most women my age or after 1 child are obese. Sad.

No, most women are not obese and you are seriously underweight.

you’re not a normal thin person, you’re anorexic. You should seek help before you do too much damage to your organs.

About 40 percent of adults are obese and another 30 percent overweight.

Yes, I think people sometimes have this idea of what obese looks like, but someone who is 5’7” and obese at 195 is not going to look that huge, really (especially if your mental image is 300+).

I’m 5’8” and 198-201 pounds. I am obese, if just barely. I am a size 12-14 and I dress in a way that flatters my shape or at least doesn’t call attention to my size. I am fit - I’ll run the Cherry Blossom 10M in a few weeks in 90-95 minutes. I don’t have a “fat face”. When I am standing up straight, I don’t have any rolls or folds in my skin. My spouse and children are slim which I think helps people not think of us as a “fat family”. I have always had a larger body and frame. When I weight 180 - 17 pounds overweight on the BMI chart - I wear a size 10-12 clothing and get a lot of compliments. When I weigh 165, still technically 2 pounds overweight, I am still a size 10, but people ask my husband about my health behind my back or ask me about my job
stress to my face.

Exception 1

How are they “exception 1” to being labeled obese based on BMI if they state their height/weight/clothing size and admit they’re obese?

Because she states that her thin children and husband make her look thinner. She’s delusional and narcissistic.

They are just “big boned” and “of sturdy stock.” Except that’s not a thing. What is a thing is lean muscle mass, bone, and fat. The 70% you describe are - in the overwhelming majority of cases - carrying around significant excess fat. Much of it visceral fat that leads to all kinds of health problems.

But that condition was inflicted upon they by outside forces, so it’s ok to pretend it isn’t there. Or acknowledge it and tell everyone they are brave and it isn’t of their doing.

I see nothing but obese people every day in Nova. Even the children and teens are fat. When I grew up here, everyone was thin and we had like the one or two fatties in our graduating classes.

I think you are weirdly hung up on other peoples appearances and somehow think the body shape genetics has given you makes you superior.

My point was to the OP that yes, there are lots of medically obese people and that not all of us are wearing dollar store leggings and driving an electric wheelchair in Walmart. Some of us shop at the same clothing stores as you and have blood pressure, cholesterol, and cardiovascular fitness levels that are within healthy ranges. I’m not delusional that I am technically obese, I just don’t think it’s the great personal failing you want it to be.

OP asked if there are really so many obese people - the answer is yes.
OP asked if most/many people are on semiglutides for vanity reasons - the answer is we don’t know because you don’t know anyone’s health issues. Some people are pre-diabetic at 30lb overweight and some people are statistically healthy at much higher weights.
But what OP is really asking is “How are all these people qualifying for these drugs? I thought you had to be obese.” And the answer to that is my point - people are qualifying because they are technically obese, but many obese people probably present like me.
If I told my friends I wanted to take semiglutides to lose 25-30lbs, they would correctly assume it was for vanity because despite technically qualifying as obese I don’t have any underlying medical conditions.

Does that make sense or do you just want to be mean to “fatties” on the internet because it makes you feel better about yourself?

I am max, 10 pounds heavier than I should be.

I mean… what you’re wearing doesn’t tell us anything. Lots of obese/overweight women squeeze into clothing that is clearly too small for them, probably in an effort to convince themselves that they really are that size.

How much do you weigh? I’m also 5’2. I weigh 115 and I was lately at patient first and they did not tell me I was obese. I also do barre!

I live in Clarendon. I rarely see an obese person and there were no fat kids at my kids’ elementary or middle schools. In fact, there are many boys like my son that is too skinny.

^ yes. That was OP’s point—talking about here—not the rest of America.

I can usually tell the departure gate for DCA at an airport without looking at the number. No obese people.
