Trump is blocking a border deal in the Senate

I mean, they haven’t released the text yet but from what’s been mentioned in the media I’m not impressed by this bill whatsoever. Unless a lot of the leaks are wrong seems DOA in the house anyway given the purported lack of meaningful restrictions.

Exactly this. So no. Not a fix. And Republicans actually want to influx to stop. We don’t want more funds to help the migrants while they are here. No more migrants. I will support funding for a wall and razor wire and border patrol agents. Nothing else. Once we get that, then we can talk about figuring out how to deal with the people here but not even interested in that until the influx stops. Over 800 people have died at the border under Biden’s watch. How does that sound? Humanitarian? Services in Chicago for actually residents are being closed to enable funding for illegals. Good? Colorado offers free health care to illegals or families of illegals but regular poor Coloradans get buttkis. This is what the Democrats want the money for and I and tons of other Americans are DONE. Stop the crazy.

And the idea that "the GOP" is somehow trying to blow up this deal to "save it for Trump" is patently false. GOP senators are furious at the thought of Trump derailing the border bill. The OP's link even states as much.

Trump needs to take over and start enforcing the laws already passed

I'm not going to read the entire thread but my issue with Biden's proposal is that it just adds more administrative power vs enforcement power. So it will help us to in-process even more "asylum seekers" into the country but does nothing to empower the border patrol to prevent entry. My desire is to see immigration go down to more sustainable levels, not to have more paper pushers to help them come in.

I'm holding out hope that this deal, or something even stronger, will go through. The border is untenable.

McConnell literally said Trump wants this blown up so immigration remains an issue. I guess you don't want to believe him. Either way, it doesn't matter because Johnson has already refused to bring it to the House floor, eventhough it would pass there by 200 votes.

I'm not disputing that this is what Trump wants and said. The point is that whatever nonsense Trump is up to has nothing to do with the GOP senators trying to pass this bill.

If 40 of them listen to him, it matters a lot. And even then, Mike Johnson has already said he’s doing what Trumps tells him to do.

Since when did fear of Democrats ever stop Trump? The border’s too valuable a wedge issue for the GOP to ever give up. Look what happened to them once Roe was taken down.
