Trump is blocking a border deal in the Senate

The "deal" isn't a "deal" at all and doesn't have the votes. McConnell knows that.

Any "deal" that allows 5,000 migrants a day to enter before preventing more from entering is not a deal at all.

Where are you reading this? FTLOG, please stop listening to right wing propaganda.

DP. Interesting that you clearly consider the NYT to be "right wing propaganda." We'll wait while you come back and apologize.

The plan would also add staff to the Border Patrol and asylum officer corps tasked with processing migrants through the immigration intake and court systems. And it includes a fail-safe mechanism that would shut down migrant intake altogether if the system became overwhelmed, a level that officials put at more than 5,000 daily encounters with people trying to cross the border.

PP is CREATING right wing propaganda. He is part of the Trump troll train.

Wow, the gaslighting is remarkable. I guess that's all Democrats have at this point. Once again, the NYT has reported exactly what the PP said. Educate yourselves because you just sound woefully ignorant.

When the Dems finally decide to do something at the border it’s to REMOVE the razor wire. Good move Dems—even Blue cities are fed up with the influx of migrants & you make a big show out of wanting FEWER barriers. Why don’t you just hand Trump the keys to the White house?

It doesn't have the votes because Trump told the caucus to turn it down.

I expect there will be a deal with Lankford and a few others pretty soon. And then Schumer will put it on the floor and it will get a handful of R votes. But probably enough of them are scared enough of Trump that they won’t be able to break a filibuster. But it will be very clear to everyone who is causing the chaos on the border, and that’s why the Rs are freaking out.

And, that is Biden/Mayorkas as we have seen for THE PAST THREE YEARS.
This didn't just start yesterday. It has been happening ....why, what do you know.... it has been happening since Biden took office.

And it was Drumpf before that. No one has solved this issue to date.

No need to deflect to Trump. We're all well aware of what happened starting January 2020.

*proof of legal residency for all healthcare coverage. Any state that tries to skirt it should immediately lose as much federal funding as possible

*reinstate remain in place

*reject all asylum claims if an individual has passed through one or more countries before the U.S.

*a wall with barbed wire at the top and multiple layers of prevention behind it at the border. We can start exactly like wall that is present at the border between Egypt/Israel because it is so effective

Make life impossible to very uncomfortable for people here illegally and guess what happens? They stop coming altogether or the influx is dramatically reduced. Once you remove all incentives for coming illegally they stop coming.

+1
But we all know that Democrats would never in a million years go for that. "Too mean!"

You morons have had 3 years to fix the border & the best you got is to blame Trump (again)?
Aknow right? I tell ya the lefties hate looking in a mirror don't they?

Educate yourself, you moron. The GOP Bill, HR-2, requires E-verify.

H.R. 2 would require all employers to use E-Verify, a federal web-based system that allows public- and private-sector employers to confirm that employees are eligible to work in the United States.

Lol, that ain't no border deal. It does nothing to solve the problem. Dems will never get it through their thick skulls that MORAL HAZARD matters. More judges and a bigger administrative state will just encourage more to come. You never addressed the root of the problem. Reject any deal calling for money for bigger administrative state. It solves nothing.

Oh, you're the one who wants to put mines along the border, make it so dangerous to enter the US that people will stop coming.

Terrifying. You want to make the US a terrifying place that no sane person would consider going to. Like North Korea.

Friend, I don't know what to tell you. It's not going to happen like you want. That will never happen.

And your vision for the US is be overrun with 150,000,000 undocumented migrants with no verifiable education, criminal background, or vaccination history. Terrifying.

You want the US to become a run down 3rd world dump. There’s green grass for our citizens until there isn’t because our housing stocks, schools, and healthcare system are obliterated because there are millions of foreign nationals breaking the back of our country.

The dystopian future envisioned by the billionaires where the country is an ecoligical wasteland, workers are chattel and women are incubators is far worse than what you describe.

DP. The future you describe is exactly what will happen by letting in millions of illegal immigrants. Just for starters, have you seen what the border looks like as all of these people leave their trash there? Absolutely disgusting and shameful.

This is nonsense. People are coming because they *know* that it's easy to cross the border and that they will get free housing and aid when they get here. Someone is mobilizing these people IN THEIR HOME COUNTRIES and providing them passage through other borders to get here. It is ORGANIZED, not an organic movement. This is what we need to focus on - THE SOURCE

Also, what do you mean by legal residence? Proof of citizenship of a Green Card? What about those waiting for a green card, a visa? I thought you already couldn't open a bank account or get a DL without it anyway, it's why we call them "undocumented immigrants". Literally none of these measures would make a difference until we focus on who is behind organizing all these people to come here in their home counties and assisting with their passage here.

DP. You mean the cartels? The thugs that DeSantis wanted to go after, but was castigated (by Democrats) for stating as much? Oh.

Absolutely everyone is appalled by the millions of unvetted people from 160 countries streaming across the border every single day.

The tragedy is that this is tied to aid to Ukraine. They've been fighting valiantly against a Russian invasion for two years now. And now they are running out of ammo. Mike Johnson is a cynical SOB. Garbage human being and a total swamp creature.

I have to laugh at your entire post, but especially the bolded. Sure, Democrats are FINALLY "appalled" by the masses of illegal immigrants - but only because Abbott made sure they got to experience what border states have had to put up with for decades. Before his busing of migrants, Democrats were all too happy to shrug their shoulders at the Biden's border crisis - even insisting there WAS none and that that the border was "secure." What a joke. Perhaps if Democrats had taken this seriously from the moment Biden lifted all of Trump's border protocols, we wouldn't have the last three years of historic border crossing numbers.

Maybe DCUM's finest could stop with the gaslighting too. Nah... that's never going to happen.

DP. Talk about stupidity ^^^. Progressive Democrats are the morons holding up this bill. And you know it.

"And some progressive Democrats say any deal that tries to reduce parole numbers by tightening restrictions on migrants, including shutting down intake if the number of border crossings exceeds a certain level, is unacceptable."

Sorry, cats out of the bag. The GOP is unserious about immigration reform.

When have Democrats stopped DeSantis from doing anything? It’s his own incompetence. Maybe if he focused more on Florida instead of gallivanting around for his joke of a presidential campaign….

Exactly this. So no. Not a fix. And Republicans actually want to influx to stop. We don’t want more funds to help the migrants while they are here. No more migrants. I will support funding for a wall and razor wire and border patrol agents. Nothing else. Once we get that, then we can talk about figuring out how to deal with the people here but not even interested in that until the influx stops. Over 800 people have died at the border under Biden’s watch. How does that sound? Humanitarian? Services in Chicago for actually residents are being closed to enable funding for illegals. Good? Colorado offers free health care to illegals or families of illegals but regular poor Coloradans get buttkis. This is what the Democrats want the money for and I and tons of other Americans are DONE. Stop the crazy.

+ a million
And the idea that "the GOP" is somehow trying to blow up this deal to "save it for Trump" is patently false. GOP senators are furious at the thought of Trump derailing the border bill. The OP's link even states as much.

McConnell literally said Trump wants this blown up so immigration remains an issue. I guess you don't want to believe him. Either way, it doesn't matter because Johnson has already refused to bring it to the House floor, eventhough it would pass there by 200 votes.

I'm not disputing that this is what Trump wants and said. The point is that whatever nonsense Trump is up to has nothing to do with the GOP senators trying to pass this bill.
