And now they want to ruin everyone's morale just so that some downtown restaurants can make a buck selling mediocre sandwiches and salads for an overpriced $17. |

Time for Muriel Browser (or whatever her name) is to go.
Her incompetence won’t fix DC crime OR grime. Getting workers “in office” is BS for loser city governance. Just like the WH two-faced policy of “wfh for the haves, slog it for the have nots”. This country has gone to the dogs. |
They’re too busy stuffing their pockets. |
Obv typos all over. Should read “1 day a week in-office”.
|
Preach! |
I would love to know as well. I haven't had an increase in probably 4 years. I am in management and don't qualify for step increases either. |
I'm sure the apocalyptic view out of any DC window makes you think that but the economy is thriving out in the burbs. We are all spending our money at gastropubs and happy hour spots out here. |
Damn you, Poe's Law! |
| DC government employees need to come back to the office. My company and many others in downtown DC started requiring 3-4 days in the office each week in early 2022. We are not paying these employees DC salaries so that they can work from home in Frederick. If they don't like it, then quit. 50% of DC government employees are slackers anyway. We can use those vacancies to hire more energized people. |
So? |
Here’s the thing, it’s not going to attract more energized workers. The slackers are going to complain and moan but they aren’t going to be able to get hired elsewhere, so they will grudgingly return to the office. The high performers who are still energized and motivated will look to make the jump to the feds, where they will get a COLA and retain hybrid flexibility. |
Nice try. Most private companies telework 2-3 times a week and they are paid 2-3 times government salaries |
Yep. |
Frederick, huh? That’s a pretty specific example. |
| sounds good |
