| Does anyone actually know why Bowser hasn’t given any COLA’s to DC government employees over the past two years? |
Money, the city doesn’t have enough of it to fund the COLAs. They could make it a priority and make cuts elsewhere but they won’t. |
If they collect on unpaid parking tickets, they could fund COLAs |
They contracted out a lot of the work. |
The idea of outsourcing is supposed to be that you can reduce your own staffing level just to what’s necessary to monitor and supervise the contractors. DC does it in the most DC way ever, keep a high staff count of people who also don’t bother to monitor and supervise the contractors. It’s the absolute worst of both worlds. |
| I work for the DC government. Not union represented. I highly doubt there will be raises or COLA’s in the near future, possibly years, based on the uncertainty of the incoming administration and it’s animosity toward DC which will be felt economically. |
Did you ever get COLA? |
DP, yes we did. The last COLA for non-union employees was FY 2023. |
No. We have not received COLA in 3 fiscal years. |
FY 22. 1.5% |
