She promised COLAs in this press release - so how come you DC government employees aren't fighting???

Your reading comprehension and/or understanding of government terms needs some assistance. That press release refers to the COLAs for FY 2022 and 2023. FY 2024 started in October 2023 and the non-union employees have not received a FY 2024 COLA nor has there been any discussion of when they might get a COLA for FY 2024. The union employees have guaranteed COLAs through FY 2025. |
Your post has no substance whatsover, unlike the pp you responded to. |
| What is their justification for not providing a COLA? I’m a former DC gov employee and they were usually pretty good about getting that done. Bowswer must be in dire straits. |
Completely agree. As someone who has been struggling to find a full time job, I am sick and tired of feds and DC government workers whining and crying about the indignity of actually having to come into an office. You losers have had it great for FOUR years now. This isn't 2020 nor 2021. I don't think employers should be mandating five days a week in the office by gunpoint, but three or four is more than reasonable. If you were dumb enough to decamp to an exurb or make crazy personal life choices to try to take advantage of the depths of the pandemic or chose to raise your children in PW County or some other crazy location, that is on you. Not going to shed any tears for you. And this is especially rich coming from DC government paper pushers who pretend they have some incredible skillset that will be instantly in demand once they hit the private sector. Don't like it? Go get yourself a new job in the private sector. You are replaceable, never forget that. You don't have to buy $17 lunches. I never did. But you DO have to give a shlt about your community and support businesses that risked personal capital to open businesse while you sit on your fat duff collecting W-2s and complaining that you actually have to travel into the city to work, like we did for the previous 60 years. If you have a serious lowered immunity issue, I feel for you. You deserve accommodation. But all these whiners crying about having to come back into an office, shut up already. |
Stop crying. Quit your job and stay home if you're scared. Or shut up and get to the office. |
I can’t imagine with your sparkling personality why you are out of work and have struggled to find a full time job. |
For. The. Last. Time. DC Gov workers have had to come in to the office three days a week for at least two years. |
Sounds like you're taking out your unemployment woes on the wrong people. Much of what you have said here is incorrect but I don't care enough to correct you. Good luck on finding that job. |
Saying they don’t have the funding to justify it |
Except you didn’t. You seem exactly like the kind of mediocre worker DC government, or really any employer, could do without. |
So quit. No one cares if you quit or keep working. Doubtful you are adding much value any way |
| She should have said 5 days a week because you know most dc government workers are slackers and will treat every Friday like a 3 day weekend. |
Not really the flex you think that is. If I have to quit due to increased in office demands, WHO do you think is going to fill my position? LOL. Before this position came available, I turned down a contractor job within the same agency that I didn't even apply for and paid more than double my current salary- the catch was in office 4 days a week. I suspect they had trouble filling it since the recruiter kept circling back to me every 6 weeks or so for several months to see if my situation had changed. These are all Fed related jobs but I guarantee DC city employees are having similar thoughts right now, especially if they are lower paid to start with. |
Piss off, dickweed. You don't get to tell anyone what to do. |
