No. I’ve never slept past 10 in my entire life. I could see a 14 yr old maybe sleeping until noon, max, if they were up late (and my late that would mean midnight latest, not electronics all night). Sorry, 2pm wake up is extreme and points to problems going on

Your teens and all of their friends get up before 10am everyday during Xmas break?

Yes. I have an 12 and 14 yr old and they are both up by 9 on their own, sometimes 10 at the latest. They are typically asleep by 11pm.

Good for them I guess. I have one who wakes up by 7am (even on breaks) and another who sleeps till noon during breaks. I don’t control what they do during this two week period. Typically they have games and activities that require them to be up on weekends and school during the week.

Teenagers who chronically stay up until 3am playing video games and sleep all day? Loser path. Big time.

We are talking about during Xmas break.

Yeah, but kids get so little free time anymore, should they really be spending it sleeping? I think they go and be a kid and actually have some fun.

Which is over two weeks. A one off day ok…but if they can’t figure out other activities to do on breaks besides sleeping all day and video games all night, I’ll help them. Not a good way to spend your free time

The fact that so many of you see nothing wrong with this explains so much about the world today. Good luck when they fail to launch or can’t find a partner!

This is hilarious. So many of you have a giant stick up you a$$. No wonder so many kids today have anxiety and depression. Parents are crazy and controlling and won’t even let them relax during winter break.

Kids can relax without being screen addicts. We are spending time as a family. Sorry your teen is hiding in his room playing…whatever addicted kids play.

new poster. yall so obsessed with this none of yall have lives for sure. if you want your child to despise you once they grow up go ahead.

if ur kid wants to stay up at 1am playing video games and sleep in until 1pm that’s fine (assuming there aint no plans). they don’t need your definition of “good use of free time” their free time is their free time, not yours. these kids, although they are admittedly more addicted to social media and all of that, work harder than most of yall in jobs. back off smh they only get certain amounts of days to relax and yall ruining it.

side note: don’t do the confiscation or whatever — that only makes them sneaky and less affectionate towards you.

We went out to dinner as a family, then played a really fun long board game. Now they are reading in bed and will probably be asleep by 11. Nothing was forced, no one is unhappy. Sad that this is unfathomable to you!

your highly mistaken — it’s not unfathomable as i am more than able to understand your lack of knowledge regarding a normal teenager. i can almost guarantee any kid that had friends, who wasn’t a complete dork, even from the 80s, wouldnt look at a book at a book at 10pm and say “how splendid! this has curated an amazing opportunity for me to enlighten myself!”

also, how are you able to gauge whether someone is happy or not — that’s their emotion. they can always tell you it was wonderful just like when they brought back drawings that looked like dogshit and you said they were wonderful. they’ll come back at their childhood and not see fun and delight rather an educational enrichment of their being.

but hey, you are clearly close minded by assuming it’s “unfathomable” to me, so i won’t further

The question was about do you wake your kid up. If your kids don’t stay up or sleep in late or play video games then your situation is irrelevant.

I’m sure your teens love spending every waking moment over their break with you.
