Do teams have to play through the midfield?

No but playing through the midfield means your forwards are getting the ball around the box or the final third of the field instead around the center third. It makes a huge difference as the game goes on.

Not playing through the midfield means your forwards are constantly making long runs in to 1vs2 situations. The older the players the less likely that will amount to anything. One player will take the ball, the player will body out the forward. It’s a very easy concept.

Wow! You should coach ECNL!

That’s not how they play in the ECNL. It’s more like rugby vs soccer. ECNL players lack technical skills and the speed of play is too slow to play any other way. Same in college. Anyone watch the Florida St v Clemson game?

Here comes the big one! Brave vs Arlington!

Will every Arlington player join Brave next year? Or will every Brave player join Arlington?!

Stay tuned to find out today!

Where is the best place to find current ECNL game schedules and times? I was curious to check out the Brave vs Arlington game earlier today, but there was no way to see that it was postponed on the ECNL website. A week ago the time was posted as an 11am start, then it changed to 9am. Here people say it was postponed (never indicated). I'm not affiliated with either club.

great for you that you have this view. Not really relevant to anything though. College is what it is and ECNL is the top leauge by a mile for college. Most ECNL girls are looking to use soccer for college. So what if it like rugby?

The ECNL website is the best place to look - and you can check the club’s social media too - just be careful with games hosted by BRAVE, as it is amateur hour over there. They’ll change times and locations and might not post it, cancel games on turf because of rain, etc.

If you honestly think they cancelled due to weather, then you are clueless...and an amateur. Both teams will play in down pours and snow. A few teams at both clubs were thin due to injuries, and a few teams were in Tampa. It's about the girls and their best interest not some random. Made sense to reschedule, not their job to inform someone not affiliated with either club.

Seem like at least they know how to place kids.

Why not Union or vda then?

Or Loudon/NVA?

Realistically, these clubs are all the same. Just go where your kid is enjoying it and developing.

OP was talking college placement. Loudoun is nowhere FCV, vda, Union in college placement.

If we are talking college placement then Union has the best record here in the DMV by far

FC Virginia and VDA over the last few years have been just as good if not better.

Definitely agree. Union is good but FCV and VDA have been placing a lot over the past few years. And many are getting playing time in college FCV signed 23 last year and 25 this year. VDA had similar numbers. That’s basically the whole team from starters to bench. The only ones not playing next level are either injured or choose not to last minute. Look at club sites. They announce the recruiting class.

Union has most consistency over time with very good schools- UVA, GTown, Ivies, (and not just past few years or just certain age groups like many of these other cubs—a very very long and deep track record that is hard to beat.

BRAVE canceled games last year because it was cold, lol. They cancel when they are ducking. Arlington was ready.

Thats simply not true, the younger age groups were already rescheduled because of Super Y. 08 teams not effected by Super Y. Games were cancelled night before, rain turned out to not be what predicted.

Who cares if it was because of the rain? Wasn't everyone in Tenn. last weekend and in Florida right after the holidays? It's a local game that be rescheduled anytime- why play it in a downpour?
