| Are there injuries, did a few players switch clubs or is it tough early schedule? |
| New coach… |
Really? This is a pretty important year!! |
No it isn’t. Sophomore year is too early for boys. Junior year is the most important. Nobody is even really looking at 08s this year at showcases. |
I think OP is talking about girls and Sophmore year is most important for girls who want Big D1 schools. |
I think OP is referring to Arlington ECNL 08 girls who finished in second place last season and are struggling this season. They have a new coach but also injuries. And, yes, this is an important year for them. But I expect that with injured players gradually returning and the team adjusting to the new coach, they'll have a strong spring, which is the most important time for sophomore girls as far as recruiting goes. |
The most important time is the next 8 weeks…. |
They also have a few 09s who think they have to play with the 08s. But also, Arlington's girls teams aren't very strong as they get older. |
I've sort of noticed that too over the last few years, with an exception here and there. Any particular reason why this seems to be the case? |
Better off moving to Union or VDA if your DD wants to play big time college soccer. |
The schedule for private high school sports in Virginia overlaps with the fall season schedule of the MA ECNL.
|
I think it has to do with them not developing their own talent. They pick a group of kids at 8 years old and develop them only and only add from the outside. Then when those players at 8 are no longer the best at 15 they are out of luck because the players they could have been developing are either at another team or playing a different sport. |
Maybe. But most clubs are not developing players. They all pull from outside. I think they also relied on big kids and when everyone catches up in size, they don't have much. If you don't have speed or skill when you're older, you won't win much. |
I don't know but keep an eye on the 11s! |
They’ll fall quickly like the other arlington teams. |
