DP:Huh? What does that even mean? |
He was right, and so was the board. You couldn't force teachers back into school before vaccines and before the peak of the pandemic. Only the states with no regard for workers did that. I'm sorry your student suffered. COVID sucked. The SB was still right. |
Frisch made every Covid-related decision with a view towards minimizing any conceivable risk for his gay partner. Kids came last for him, and they still do. |
Our private school did and there were no issues. All the preschools were open. People took precautions. People were out and about. There were ways to do things. They didn’t try. |
| I hate how every thread about Karl Frisch turns into a thread about his sexuality. I DO NOT CARE ABOUT HIS SEXUALITY. I care that he has been a proponent for wasting money and building a school where a school was not needed. I am a Shrevewood parent whose youngest child is likely to be zoned to the new Dunn Loring school once it is built. We've spent years building relationships at our current school. We LOVE it there. And you're moving my child to a new school why exactly?? We didn't ask for this, we just asked for rezoning to relieve some congestion and guess what? Post Covid our school isn't even overcrowded anymore. Dunn Loring is a HUGE waste of money. That's why I don't like this guy. NOT because of his sexuality, I don't give a shit who he loves. I do give a shit that he's in this for his OWN interests and not the community's interests. |
A+ effort at deflection. Now respond to the substance. |
Agree 100%. ANd you cannot compare private schools. People pay to attend and they are much small and more manageable in terms of student numbers. FCPS and Flint Hill . . . or Paul VI . . . you just cannot compare them. |
Why is it weird? Repub voters do it all the time. . . . straight line vote based on the "R" behind a name. Regardless of who the other candidate is. |
EVERY SINGLE TIME anyone criticizes Karl Frisch someone comes on here claiming homophobia. This criticism has absolutely nothing to do with his sexual orientation. This guy is so VERY clearly just a political hack who is using the school board as a stepping stone into state politics (and maybe some day national politics). Just like his friend Dalia. I've posted this before but when he was going door to door, he LIED to me and said he had children in FCPS. Flat out lied. I am so ashamed that I voted for him. Because it is very thinly veiled homophobia. You think he is the only one making decisions that would also benefit his family? Or using it as a launching pad for other political goals? Yet he's the one that gets called out. And the "no kids" thing is routinely trotted out here. How dare the gay guy with no kids have an opinion or view about the schools? (The answer: lots of people do. I was on PTA and we had people last year speak as to school matters who did not have kids at the school, or kids at all). |
| His current work with the schools is not well received nor are the results coming out on achievement. The schools are losing students and not doing as well. He doesn't have the same details of the school system that someone with kids has. He has a political agenda and very clearly is in it for politics rather than other reasons. The money he raised is a clear sign of this. No one needs this much for a school board race. He could have stopped or not agreed to the money, but he didn't. He just isn't as qualified as other people running and has motivations I don't care about as much. Despite having a teacher as a partner, teachers are leaving. I also don't like his voting record, but I think part of that is not ever being in the weeds of being a parent with kids in a school system and getting to know a community in that way, so he makes poor decisions. It may be thinly veiled bias, but it is bias based on real observations of people who haven't gone through an experience which I judge many people by for office. There are even tropes of people like this. The mom of the 2-year-old who thinks she knows everything about parenting and giving advice out. I'm happy he is invested in the community, but he doesn't have a connection to very many women and children in the community and is not connecting with them well or doing things that these cohorts are looking for. He is also taking in money that is unjustified for this race. |
Great. I'm glad you don't. But there are many, many parents who do. And their politics come out every time a Moms for Liberty group wants to ban a book. It's scary bad. |
DP. Fifty percent of students and teachers wanted to be in person in the fall of 2020. The school board and administration tried but just thought it would be too hard to make happen so they gave up. There were schools in other areas that reopened partially, because they prioritized it. But we didn't. And we prevented FCCPS from reopening when they figured out how to do it. That was low. |
He’s a pompous jerk. And it’s his supporters who make everything about his sexuality because they like to label people homophobic if they call him out for championing dumb initiatives like that school in Dunn Loring that isn’t needed and next to no one wants. |
Really? How did we influence FCCPS? That’s news to me. The younger kids should have been a priority to return to school. Kindergarten and first grade online is just not worth it. |
|
Some people are homophobic.
Karl is a bad SB member and doesn’t belong in the board. Both these things are true. #1 does not make #2 false. |
