Which is a huge part of why the recording was made -- it's pretty clear that that woman's meltdown was self-protective and that she -- the aggressor here -- would look to the police for "protection." With this kind of she said/she said and the racism shown by police departments? Hell yes, get out the phone and record.

I have a serious mental illness myself, and I have zero sympathy for this bs. Zero.

Agree 100%. The black woman knows that if anyone calls the police, SHE is the one at risk. So her only “protection” is to film the situation.

Yep. I don't know how there are this many white people who don't understand this at this point. Or maybe they do understand it, and don't care (which is a horrific thought but par for the course with racism in this country).

That’s the worst part of it. She’s claiming she was in danger and it was because she is Black. Too many of these bogus claims and people are going to stop listening. The real victims who were seriously injured in a racial incident won’t be heard over the calculating grifters.

She felt so at risk that she continued agitating an unstable woman.

Glad you agree that the white woman is unhinged, unstable, and should not be unsupervised in public.

Have you seen the videos out there? People are quick to start recording and there are a lot of unstable people out there unsupervised. Everything is fine and then something sets them off.

While I feel sorry for both protagonists in this case, I do want to remind people that when it's the black person who has the mental issues, the autism or whatever else...

...they get shot by police.

So don’t poke the bear when in public. Seems like a simple lesson.

The black woman was clearly trying to escalate the situation in an attempt to create a viral Karen situation and a payday.

Apparently it worked! $100k+ via go fund me…for what exactly?

She bullied a mentally ill woman.

I hope the white lady gets relief from the court. Nobody is safe if any person can whip out a camera phone and provoke a response with the goal of going viral and getting a payday. Enough already!

There’s no case as there’s no expectation of privacy while in a public place. Only one person was assaulted and that ain’t Elphick.

Neither was assaulted.

People with disabilities should be protected, not publicly victimized.

Ask yourself if that grown woman recording while clearly trying to escalate would have been within her rights had it been a teenager or someone with Downs Syndrome.

That woman got her payday. What more does she want?

And what does the black community think of this? Are they cool with her equating this to “that’s how black people get killed”? Are they cool with her obvious attempt to provoke an incident to go viral and “get paid”?

So embarrassing.

Just so you know, there’s no quarterly meeting — or whatever you were imagining, where the entire “Black Community” — whoever you’re imagining, meets together to put out unified opinions.

The embarrassing thing is your assumptions.

Likewise white people aren’t colluding in secret meetings to conspire against others.

Guess you’ve never heard of the Republican Party.

Mentally disabled white woman who swats a black womans hand and then follows her, then a meltdown is the aggressor, guilty of assault and should “stay home” bc of her illness, is racist, not a victim.

Jordan Neely, mentally disabled black man, threatening to kill people on the train, saying he doesn’t care if he goes to jail and someone’s going to die today, throwing trash and lunging at other passengers before being restrained = innocent bystander, victim. How many of you said he shouldn’t have been in public in lieu of defending him?

I’m not saying he should have been demonized by the way. I’m just saying the understanding of why he acted the way he did should be extended to the “Karen” situation as well.

Yeh this is around the time they rebranded and got rid of Victoria angels. Sad time for the brand

Why did either woman have to stay in the store? Walking away is always a good idea if you can.

Yeah. The epidemic of police shooting and killing black people is “simple” — and needs to be stopped by the victims. Right. Ok.

You are the epitome of ignorant and racist.

This story reminds me of something that happened to me a long time ago. I was sitting next to a woman on the metro and she suddenly slapped me (not hard, it just startled me). It came out of nowhere and she then acted like nothing happened. She had a service dog but wasn’t blind. So I surmised she had some sort of other disability that caused her to behave like that and walked away.

I feel like about 25% of the women who post here are just like that white woman.
