The Fascist Part of the US strikes again in Tennessee

Letting the white lady pass for doing the same thing is just a distraction. A distraction that shows a lot but is ultimately meaningless. She is not Barabas.

As Justin Pearson just said, resurrection is not a prophecy it is a promise.

Dramatic much? Good grief. No wonder no one takes you seriously.

Yes - authoritarianism. The very idea that 3 rogue members of the State House can hijack the work of the legislature. THAT, my friend, is authoritarianism.

You can pretend. You can give false witness. But that does not change the truth. What happened tonight was a sin. A sin against America, the people and democracy. The lust for power is not a justification. That this was done on Maundy Thursday is not a sign but an irony. For there is no belief. There is nothing but shame. Shame. Shame. Shame.

What protestors did or didn’t do in Michigan doesn’t have a damn thing to do with the rules of the TN state house

OMG. For ONCE could you not focus on their gender or race???

Consider for a moment that if you're tired of hearing people cite race and gender as possible reasons for unfair treatment, that it's happening an awful lot.

And that if it's happening so often that you're tired of hearing it, maybe just maybe they're right? That maybe people of color and women get shafted too often for it to just be coincidence?

We're honestly tired of having to point it out. Maybe we should fix it, so we can all stop talking about it.

Maybe stop trying to create race wars.
And, while you are at it... stop with the gender wars too.
It is almost as if you folks are trying to distract from Biden's absolutely horrific record by drumming up nonexistent issues.

Pretty rich coming from the person defending the expulsion of two black delegates.

DP. They could be purple for all I care. Why is being black some kind of protection from consequences of bad behavior? The more you play the race card, the dumber you look.

I'll tell you what the vast majority of Americans are honestly tired of: playing the race/gender victim card any time you want to be excused for your bad behavior. If those three had been white men - and especially conservative white men - you would be gleefully crowing about how they were expelled for their antics. We all see you .

Actually, only racists and misogynists are "tired of the race/gender victim card." Everybody else understands that we live in a white patriarchy.

Robby is a loser. Before today no one knew who the Speaker of the Tennessee legislature was. Now they know who he is and what he represents. Do not allow republicans to gain control. They will take everything from you. Just like the commies do.

Wait till you hear who the last speaker of the Tennessee House was and why he isn’t the speaker anymore.

Shocked, just shocked that no one is interested in what an effing cesspool the Tennessee state house is.

What about, what about.

Jones is a serial assault expert. He got out of line and violated the functioning of the house. He’s been dealt with.

Former House speaker has a giant federal indictment for bribery and corruption and no one talked about expelling him.

Idiot the key were expelled for taking over the floor for nearly an hour.

The day Matt G takes over congress with a bullhorn for an hour, you’ll want him on a plane back to Florida.

They did neither. They were disruptive and incited the crowd. They were lucky no state troopers were injured.

It was a peaceful protest. It is allowed in our country, even if it makes you uncomfortable. The protestors may have been loud--but they were peaceful. They were not armed, so spare me your concern about the state troopers. The only armed protesters in state houses in recent times have been Republicans.

Also, these expulsions are rare. The last time the TN state legislature expelled lawmakers was in 1980 (soliciting a bribe) and 2016 (allegations of sexual misconduct while in office).
"Since then [the 1800s], the House of Representatives in Tennessee has voted only twice to oust a lawmaker. Both votes were bipartisan: in 1980, after a sitting lawmaker was convicted of soliciting a bribe, and in 2016, after the House majority whip faced allegations of sexual misconduct while in office."

What a complete joke. Had these protesters - interrupting a legislative session, no less - been conservatives, you'd be calling for their heads. Hypocrite, much?
DP

Oh really? Have you met Cliven Bundy and his band of protesting miscreants? Or what about those who did interrupt legislative sessions in Michigan -ARMED- and handled with kid gloves, during the Pandemic?

GTFOH with your BS lies and whataboutisms.

Not sure what point you think you're making - you condemned those people - why aren't you condemning these three? Oh, wait...

The difference is that even though we disagree with Matt G, we still let him bloviate on the House Floor, we still give him time in hearings and committees to make his points, however idiotic those points are. even when Republicans are in the minority in the House...

These three Tennessee legislators were not afforded any of that. They were shut down and shut up and were not given any opportunity to make themselves heard. That's undemocratic behavior by TN Republicans. That's why they came back with bullhorns. Now, I'm not saying I agree with using bullhorns but if you're going to talk about this then you need to acknowledge that this blew up because of the Republicans, who have not been acting in good faith.

John Lewis took over Congress for about that same time. He was arrested, he wasn’t expelled. See the difference?

Outside of your bubble, the “vast majority of Americans are honestly tired of” mass shootings every day.

And everyone was okay with the Republican state legislators who signed a letter questioning Biden's win. Sure--Republicans are all about decorum and respect for civic institutions.

"Tennessee’s Senate Republicans have declared the presidential election far from over and announced their support of President Donald Trump’s baseless accusations of fraud and voting irregularities that he says caused him to lose the election."

So, will this be tracked by DOJ as domestic terrorism? Like the J6 people?
Anonymous
Anonymous wrote:How is this worse than J6? Nobody died, dozens of police officers weren't assaulted and injured, no doors were smashed in, no windows were smashed, no poop was smeared, no weird shamans ran around bellowing, there were no weapons or zip ties, no offices and meeting rooms were looted and ransacked, no lies were told, no government overthrow was attempted.

Hundreds of J6 protesters were let go and were not prosecuted because all they did was go into the Capitol and make some noise for a few minutes. The ones who are still under arrest and who are being prosecuted did a lot more, like assault, vandalism, et cetera.

Given Republicans now want to criminalize going to a Capitol building and making some noise for a few minutes I think we should go back and arrest all of those right wing loons who showed up at the Michigan capitol with guns, along with the REST of the J6 protesters that we let go.

I absolutely would not if they were conducting a peaceful protest. I believe that protest is a healthy and necessary part of democracy. Now if the protestors were armed or assaulted people or damaged property, that's another story.

I'm assuming you were outraged at the following instances when RW activists stormed state capitols?

Michigan (https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-52496514)

*Armed far-right protesters attempted to break into the Oregon Capitol in Salem on Monday and clashed with the police as legislators extended COVID-19 relief and restrictions.
Members of far-right and white-supremacist groups including the Proud Boys and Patriot Prayer were there, according to The Daily Beast and Oregon Public Broadcasting.
Protesters broke glass doors, sprayed chemicals at police officers, and assaulted journalists. They did not make it into the session.

Oregon (https://www.businessinsider.com/far-right-protestors-storm-oregon-state-capitol-building-2020-12)

*Dozens of unmasked protesters, some of them armed, shoved their way past state troopers to pack the gallery overlooking the state's House of Representatives. They broke a glass door.

Yes, I absolutely was outraged at those instances. Were you hoping for a 'gotcha' moment? I'm not some ultra-partisan like the LWNJs on this forum who refuse to acknowledge when members of their own party act inappropriately.
