Tennessee GOP expels first Democratic lawmaker. Republican lawmakers in Tennessee voted Thursday to expel the first of three Democratic legislators from the state House over their protests on the chamber floor against gun violence.

Republicans can not argue the issues so the must silence anyone who disagrees with them. These people are anti democratic and anti American.

The speaker of the House in Tennessee, who is a Republican, called the three Democratic members insurrectionists and said it was equal to or worse than January 6! Is the GOP, as it stands right now, on its last gasps of air in our country? Will we see a new party that is only slightly center right in its place within the next 10 years?

If you have been following this, you would know that they are expelling these members because they took over the House for over 45 minutes, incited the protestors, and refused to stop.
One might say they incited an insurrection since they halted the work of the House.

Oh no! Wow I see your point. 45 minute protest over 9 year olds getting killed is just horrible! Next time you see a 9 year old think about how you and your party are killing them. That is what conservatives stand for …killing 9 year olds. You must silence anyone you stand against you. Why because there is nothing you can say to defend your position.

How is this worse than J6? Nobody died, dozens of police officers weren't assaulted and injured, no doors were smashed in, no windows were smashed, no poop was smeared, no weird shamans ran around bellowing, there were no weapons or zip ties, no offices and meeting rooms were looted and ransacked, no lies were told, no government overthrow was attempted.

Six lawmakers were expelled from the Tennessee House in 1866, immediately after the Civil War, for seeking to prevent the ratification of the Fourteenth Amendment, which granted citizenship to formerly enslaved people. Since then, the House of Representatives in Tennessee has voted only twice to oust a lawmaker. Both votes were bipartisan: in 1980, after a sitting lawmaker was convicted of soliciting a bribe, and in 2016, after the House majority whip faced allegations of sexual misconduct while in office.

The optics are horrible. Expelling two black and one woman for being uppity? It’s bad. I just do not see how this is a win. It is being picked up all over the world.

Yeah. State House members being held accountable for their disruptive behavior that broke House rules. Actions have consequences.
Perhaps these 3 members should have thought about the ramifications of their actions before they disrupted business and incited the protestors.
