Maret and former Whittle students?

Nothing says self-absorbed non—parent then someone who thinks it’s a “terrible fit” for their family when their kids - the ones who actually attend the school - love it. You sound like a world class a**hole.

Ha. Well, guess I'm the a**hole then. My goal in my post was to note that Maret is great for some not for others. In the goal of endeavoring to be objective and present facts to help others make decisions, here are my facts about why Maret is not a great fit for our family, but yet why I would keep my kid there.

Why are we still there: our kid likes it

Why is it not a good fit:
(1) we have found that kids whose parents are large donors and or have other special circumstances also have privileges that other kids do not have in the school. For example, they don't get in trouble but they get other kids in trouble with ease, even though it's clear that the kid is lying. Ok - so maybe it's teaching my kid a valuable life lesson that life isn't fair? But it's painful to watch lying, cheating kids get away with lying and cheating time and again.
(2) the school has broad advanced/honors courses in the STEM courses, but nearly nothing in humanities. Our kid is a humanities kid. For now, he's too young to care, but he might want the option down the road and it barely exists
(3) the science curriculum is rigid, particularly for a kid who doesn't love science. Again, great for some families, not a great fit for our kid.

IMHO, those are three objective reasons why the school is not a great fit for us, but it could be great for someone else.

But, perhaps most importantly, as much as the school prides itself on being progressive, there is no room for honest and open discourse. If you don't agree with the teacher's opinion, you better keep your mouth shut.

Perhaps some of these issues will get better with the new HoS. Thanks for your honesty. We are not there yet, but always good to go in with eyes wide open.

As a Maret parent, this chain is wild to read!

One of the whittle kids admitted this year is arguably the most ahead of the grade anyway.

Our complaints with Maret are we feel the teachers could be supported more and that the DEI aspects aren't deep enough or fully realized. New HOS led presentation on how he walks that talk.

So we are very optimistic about the future, and glad those who took on whittle may find a way in over here.

Lots of trolls on this site!

Whittle was a scam from the start. Sorry.

How exactly does he walk they talk?

So, Whittle admits did happen?

I think he’s a self-interested part of a couple that had clear culpability in everything that happen. A terrible choice. And the vicious attacks on everyone that mentions that ugly recent history prove the point

Here are the facts how I understood them and they are sobering (by the way, all of this was reported as well), but I will still say allegedly:

2018 (summer): Incoming Maret HoS (HoS) joins Whittle and works hand in hand with Chris on every aspect of the future school
2019 (Sep): School opens
2020 (Oct): HoS leaves calling himself the Founding Head of Whittle, but the wife stays — she’s a paid member of the Advisory Board, on the faculty/admin and in the period of implosion even a “faculty representative on the school’s finance committee” (some on the faculty describe her as severely limiting their options and working squarely for Whittle)
2021-2022: Whittle struggles and implodes, leaving unpaid rent, lawsuits, teacher salaries, and graduating a very small class, including the HoS child among the 14; a small inner circle of 4 wealthy and influential families including the HoS and his wife are appointed to advise Whittle on all matters including handling the financials and they keep reassuring other parents whom they need to stay open that all will be well, but promptly shut down overnight after graduating the small class, families other than 14 struggle to get their transcripts, teachers and vendors remain unpaid
2021: HoS keeps saying and tweeting positive stuff about Whittle
2022 (May): Maret HoS is announced in parallel to the Whittle imploding, there are reported rumors that the Board was instructed how to vote and heavily lobbied

To this day, both have refused to comment, apologize, help any of the affected people (other than the wife allegedly soliciting money from parents for lunches and teacher salaries in 2021-2022 while herself getting paid).

Reads to me like a complete sham and I would want nothing to do with it let alone pay his hefty package out of my fees.

+1 still can’t believe he is going to be our HoS what an embarrassment. We could have gotten almost anyone. I blame the board, frankly.

That’s right, that’s exactly the problem. It’s a scam and you think you got away with it and gladhandled each others forward. But, there is still plenty that could be done. Parents could demand an investigation, resignation etc. The best hope is that he doesn’t last but at least you can’t say you’ve not been warned.

Someone should map out those connections

Wait, so why are you attacking people who say that Whittle admits did happen? They absolutely did.

Funny how in their announcements they say where the older kid goes but never named Whittle as the younger’s school.

Fish stinks from the head.

The second anyone inserts any facts the thread goes dead 😂

“Monica Bisgaard, Special Advisor to the Head of School”
Source: Whittle Directory 2021-2022

She lists her Whittle experience as only to 2021, a complete fabrication?

These folk are dodgy.
