How much will the lawsuits against the Bisgaards cost Maret's lawyers in the end? Maybe it's a wash to cut them loose.

Just go to the 2nd in the list or do an Acting from the current staff.

There are deputy principals in Big 3 who’s love a promotion

I don’t think he can claim anything, depending on his contract. The selection committee didn’t have material facts at the time of decision

Has anyone considered that one of the other candidates may have turned Maret down? No insider knowledge here- but Head candidates are also
looking to see if the school feels like a school they want to lead and as with any other jobs, candidates don’t always accept when offers are made. There may not be a “second on the list.”

I have no knowledge of that either, but I do know that no “assistant” head they currently have would be anything short of a fiasco as an interim HOS.

Curious about his contract - and when he is subject to review and by whom.

You might be right. The odds are stacked against any head who replaces Marjo, just because she has been there for so long and has been a leader who changed the school. This would be common knowledge in these circles; candidates would have known it and the retained search firm would have advised the search committee and the board about this as well. It is possible that there were good candidates who did not want the job because they did not want to follow Marjo. And it is also possible that the board picked Bisgaard as sort of a short-term sacrificial lamb.

No matter the circumstance, Bisgaard is still a bad and embarrassing choice!

This is true in general. The talent pool for HOS roles is very limited. There are a lot of mediocre heads advancing from smaller schools to larger schools and unprepared assistant heads becoming heads at smaller schools because there aren’t enough skilled administrators to go around.

No, it really is not very limited. It especially not so limited for the Whittle HoS to be your lead candidate amidst the implosion and the sordid aftermath
