Overrated restaurants in the DMV

Fiola a few months back was sort of eh. OK food but not worth the price. Service sort of rushed and problematic.

Tail Up Goat - we had some takeout during the worst of the pandemic and it was actually bad.

Rasika good but others like Indique do much better takeout. That spinach doesn’t travel well.

I’m disappointed with most everywhere in DC.

Expensive, poor service, underwhelming food and drinks.

I went to Maydan once prepandemic. Maybe I ordered the wrong things but the food wasn’t that great.

NP. I wish this were true. Ive been invited there by several locals who think it’s great. I have never had a decent meal there.

If you live in Westover or Cherrydale and this happens to be your neighborhood sandwich and pizza joint? Well, it’s pretty amazing to have one this good! It’s probably not a place to drive a half an hour or more for. We are in Westover and love it.

People in Arlington only think it is good because they have no competition. If you had the option to go to a real Italian deli like the ones in other parts of tge country, you would realize how overpriced and overhyped the Italian Store is.

Fiola Mare

Fiola Mare used to be my favorite restaurant until I got an allergy reaction. I ordered a GF pasta the server had suggested, but they brought me gluten full pasta.

Too expensive for a lunch menu that changed to just sandwiches.

I like the Italian Store, but I did go to several plain, random Italian delis when I used to travel for work and was blown away by how amazing they were, so I know you’re right. There is a roasted veggie and provolone sandwich from Reisterstown, MD in 2014 that I still remember fondly.

Yeah I grew up in an area with a lot of real Italian delis and the Italian Store is like a Disneyfied version of one. More expensive, flavors and inventory tailored "for the masses." It would be put out of business in a week anywhere with competition. But here we are....

FF was good when I moved here in 2008. I went in 2021 with friend visiting from TN and her friends from work. They loved it. I am not sure if food just really, really sucks where they live or if people just can’t admit the food and service is on par with a Denny’s in Ohio after paying what must seem expensive if you don’t live here and waiting 30 min past your reservation.

The FF in Foggy Bottom has never been good. We had so many terrible work events there in the early 2000s.

You must have been really drunk at those events because you weren’t at FF in the “early 2000s”. FF opened in 2008.

2008 is still the early 2000s. I didn’t work in DC before 2008 so very much aware of where I was. But go on, defend that shitty place. LOL.

No one is defending FF. You must still be drunk because your reading comprehension is a bit off.

I'll toss Good Stuff Eatery on this. I was promised "best burgers ever" by a colleague and the burgers were a bit soggy. Not bad, just not worth the hype.
