ERs are full with young parents whose kids have a combination of viruses, in many cases including COVID. There's a sobering article I think you all should read.

I think the trolls are the people coming on here pushing for mask mandates to return to schools. I mean, what?? That is ridiculous.

I also think the trolls are the people coming on here telling me that I'm selfish for not masking my 4 year old. That's quality trolling, right there.

I hope your four year old does okay with their round of COVID and doesn't get it at the same time as rsv. Sincerely. After all, they didn't ask to be your kid.

The issue is they are trying to compare a preschool/day care situation to a large MCPS school and don't get it.

Great, so go back with all the rich families in the private school board and stop trolling MCPS. Your private school has what a few hundred kids? MCPS schools are 3-6 times the size.

His private school has kids on their third or fourth round of a disease that gives them mini-strokes, but, you know, Opus Dei.

You won't convince me it's not one of the Opus Dei schools. So obvious. Goes with the right wing Moco territory.

The really tragic issue is the preschool/daycare workers aren't unionized, don't have disability benefits, or a voice to advocate for their own safety, but this person prioritizes their own predatory lobbyist vanity job over someone else's well-being.

My school is 70% FARMS in crowded apartments with elderly grandparents and sometimes 2-3 families. They are smart to mask at school.

Ours too. And most kids are masking. A large number of teachers do as well, mostly the older ones.

It's so odd and depressing how this issue divides under class lines: there's an entitled, arrogant crowd who think having a social conscience doesn't have to apply to them.

At our school, all the smart kids have masks. The remedial students don't. It's a clear indication of student IQ.

The whole antimasking thing is so Darwinian.

No one is pushing for mask mandates but more common sense. Your 4 year old is not in a large public building with 2400-3500 other students who rotate classes, lunch and activities. You clearly have no idea the difference between the life of your 4 year old not in MCPS and a 14 year old. You clearly don't the consequences to others when you make them sick. Teaching you kid to be a good citizen is a positive thing. You setting a good example is a positive thing. You're 4 year old will go with it. You are the problem.

If you’re not pushing for mask mandates, why are talking about masks so much? Everyone knows they’re allowed to wear one if they want to.

There is definitely a very tiny contingent of parents pushing to go back to universal masking. VERY small. MCPS and the new health officer have already made it pretty clear that they will continue to operate under a mask optional policy. You can continue to whine and post here if it makes you feel better though.

No one is pushing it. But stop complaining of illness.

I'm glad you agree that MCPS should not require masks, but there are a small number of parents and teachers that want to see that.

The people who want it, want it because of health reasons and it's not unreasonable given all the illnesses going around. I don't care about mask mandates this year as my kids will not be entering an MCPS building because of people like you. Just stop complaining already about how inconvenient your sick kids are as you did it to them.

I am in that group so it can’t be that small.

No one is bothering you. There is no masking or precautions so you are making a drama out of nothing.
