I wish you all would realize you're just encouraging some bored troll from the Daily Wire or whatever right-wing rag's been assigned here to push anti-masking. It's not worth the engaging.
ERs are full with young parents whose kids have a combination of viruses, in many cases including COVID. There's a sobering article I think you all should read. |

There's the article. Hit home for me because we once had a four-year-old in these same straits pre-covid. At the time it was just bad flu and rsv together that our little one had, (October, before flu shots were available that year), but I will never forget watching that o2 reading all night long and the alarms going off when it dropped below 90. Doing nebulizer treatments at 3am. Patting her back to loosen mucous, the shadows under her eyes. The coughing so hard that she vomited... Being moved from picu to regular and then back again. What's chilling about this article: The kid in question has had COVID three times in the last six months. And she's four. Turns out she had COVID again. In her sixteen hours in the ER, the mother and all the other mothers with similarly sick kids stuck together and bonded. Great, right? Except I think we can assume that the kids who were sick with *only* another virus, now have a covid exposure on top of that. I don't know how anyone with a young child can read something like that and not think masks are the bare freaking minimum of what we should do right now. And that doesn't even touch the long-term stuff. I wish you all good luck. |

(sorry, I just reread the article. I was wrong, above. Turns out this was her third round of COVID in six months. Not her fourth.)
Cold comfort. |
My school is 70% FARMS in crowded apartments with elderly grandparents and sometimes 2-3 families. They are smart to mask at school. |
| But yeah, another reason to mask: when your five year old is just getting their first case of strep, chicken pox, rsv, or influenza, you really don't want to add COVID to the mix. |
Ours too. And most kids are masking. A large number of teachers do as well, mostly the older ones. It's so odd and depressing how this issue divides under class lines: there's an entitled, arrogant crowd who think having a social conscience doesn't have to apply to them. |
This is definitely the case. Plus, they've become comfortable hiding their faces. |
Or, maybe there is something more like health issues that you don't know of. You are pretty judgmental and terrible to treat a teen masking the way you do. |
The problem is you are discussing it with people who have no concern for others, including their own kids. So, they aren't going to care or get it until their child becomes seriously sick and even then, they'll just let the kid tuff it out while they go about their day. |
I think the trolls are the people coming on here pushing for mask mandates to return to schools. I mean, what?? That is ridiculous. I also think the trolls are the people coming on here telling me that I'm selfish for not masking my 4 year old. That's quality trolling, right there. |
I hope your four year old does okay with their round of COVID and doesn't get it at the same time as rsv. Sincerely. After all, they didn't ask to be your kid. |
LOL so funny |
At our school, all the smart kids have masks. The remedial students don't. It's a clear indication of student IQ. |
No one is pushing for mask mandates but more common sense. Your 4 year old is not in a large public building with 2400-3500 other students who rotate classes, lunch and activities. You clearly have no idea the difference between the life of your 4 year old not in MCPS and a 14 year old. You clearly don't the consequences to others when you make them sick. Teaching you kid to be a good citizen is a positive thing. You setting a good example is a positive thing. You're 4 year old will go with it. You are the problem. |
| At our private school it is 99 percent unmasked. Rarely do I see a student wearing a mask. It is wonderful to see those smiling faces!! |
