Anxiety is what many otherwise healthy people suffer when they fear catching or passing on a disease that is basically a cold now. Why are we still having this discussion? I feel badly for the kids stuck at home and or wearing masks endlessly. Thank goodness the schools came to their senses about the ridiculous mandates. |
Masks are disgusting. They are full of gross snot and germs and people still keep them on their faces. I just want to throw when I see you in your mask. |
Knock it off, you two. Honestly, do we need to take away your recess? Look, there are points to be made for masks and for relief from them, but there's no need to accuse someone else of mental health issues! I have a high schooler who mostly masks (indoors in close proximity) and would like to see more masking when serious illnesses surge. I also sympathize with parents of elementary kids for whom masking interferes with communication, and who (kids, not parents) aren't as able to decide when conditions suggest masking or when it's pretty safe not to mask. But, masks are effective for covid, especially if those with infected are wearing them. I think for other viruses and flu, surfaces are important too. It's a tricky time with immune systems unprepared for all sorts of viruses. And the issues of others at home is real. I am someone who has immune issues and very glad not to have had covid. I don't think it's too much to ask kids with symptoms to mask or for all to mask (or at least encourage it) for brief periods if a new variant surges. Can we just try to have compassion for one another? |
Wow. All doctors and nurses have mental health issues. What terrible professions. No one should become a doctor or a nurse it immediately gives them mental health issues. Just today watched a doctor take one of your brats outside to test for RSV so the kid wouldn't remove his mask indoors around other patients. |
So, you simply don't get that not everyone is "healthy" and that cold for some is a big deal even when healthy? Why are you having the discussion when you don't care and it's not a big deal? Kids are stuck at home because of the lack of precautions. If you truly care about those kids, what are you going to do to make it safe for them to return? |
That is the real issue. Some have zero compassion and would prefer to hid via bullying than do the right thing. I wish I got recess. |
Most people change them daily or a few times a day. Don't you? You argued why we should mask and then are finding a new excuse... |
Meh. Masks keep your own snot and germs in. You already have them, so it's not hurting anything. |
| Most of the teens masking now are doing so because of low self esteem or to cover acne. I know this as fact. |
Covering acne is a huge reason. I had bad acne as a kid and would have considered the same. |
By all means, let's let all the snot and germs out into shared space. /s |
Some teens continue to mask because they are sick with lingering cold symptoms and because they want to avoid getting sick and missing exams, sports, or activities. |
Or, the have good self esteem and are comfortable standing up to bulllies like yourself. |
Too bad the parents cannot take them to the doctor to help with the acne. |
Then complain about illness. |
